I was trying to download a 1.7 gig file and after 200 megabytes it cut me off to a trickle. so i guess i will have to do this a little at a time. sheesh. sure wish there was cable out here in the boonies. thanks again for the help
JoeOtto Posted February 26, 2005 CID Share Posted February 26, 2005 I get that problem once in a while in the evenings. I have never gotten it during the overnight or early morning. dell Posted February 28, 2005 CID Share Posted February 28, 2005 DirecWay says that your service speeds are directly tied to your ACP. The higher the ACP the faster things run.

dell Posted February 28, 2005 CID Share Posted February 28, 2005 What is Automatic Cross Polarization (ACP)? The ACP feature provides transmit satellite dish pointing information to your installer and automatic satellite dish revalidation. This ensures your satellite dish remains aligned. Jewelz_tx Posted February 28, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 28, 2005 Well call me a ditzy blonde from Texas...... but ummmm there is nothing wrong with my signal.... since they changed the transponder. It averages 85-87 and it acutally rained today. lol My speeds are still the same..... sucky!! I called DWay again today. They gave me the number directly to Level II support... imagine that. lol but no one will talk to me now. They just say its been referred to Engineering and won't talk to me. So today, I thought I would call and just give a new prob to level I..... my packet loss issue. But noooooooooo as soon as he read the notes on my account... he sent me directly to level II and once they got it.... someone will be calling you back. blah blah blah. I asked him how long they were gonna keep telling me that before somone actually did call me back cuz they never will. He said the Engineers are very busy. and I said. Yeah and I can tell you what they are busy with..... helping disatisfied customers with DW6000 cuz its a peice of crap. he told me to have a nice day and he ended the call. LOL Sorry jerks!!! Jewelz_tx Posted March 2, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 As some of you know.... I have been placed on the "An Engineer will be calling you back" waiting list. Well yesterday when I got home from work I had a message from the Corporate office. Of course when I called back after I got home from work... They were already gone for the day. So today I took an early lunch, went home and called them back. This time I was told that my download speeds of 203 and upload of 16 was NORMAL!!! and right on target with what they advertise. OMG I about flipped... so again.... I explained my situation and was told again that I could not go back to the DW4000 because of the 15 month contract that I agreed to. My question to her was..... What about your end of that same contract...... the contract and advertising that says my speeds would not increase/decrease if I upgraded to the DW6000. She said.... "I am gonna have an Engineer call you back"!!!! omg I cannot believe this!!! I just want the same service I was payin for before I downgraded to this crap!!!! Jewelz_tx Posted March 2, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 oh yeah and one more thing...... for those direcway tech support that frequent this webiste (I know you are out there...) I have also filed a complaint with the BBB. What a bunch of crap this is!! I have paid an installer to come to my house to check the dish, the alighment, my modem, my cables.... everything is A-OK! So please get up off your butts and stand up for what is right!! OH how I wish I had cable!!!!!!!! But my other option...... is Starband. But even dialup sounds good right now. At least they are stable!!!! Oh I am sooooooooo angry!!!

Jewelz_tx Posted March 2, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 I told Ivy at the corportate office today that I had my CC company on hold with a dispute. So right now DW cannot charge a penny to me. The installed was out on Saturday and I don't know what the Cross pole is.... how can I check? She assured me that they would call me back today.... well that isn't gonna happen... we all know that. I am happy your speeds are up. Jealous as hell..... but happy! Now figure out why and do mine the same way. LOL

budbem Posted March 2, 2005 CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 Here is how to do your cross pol test go to your control panel (DirecWay control center) http address - then after the / add... fs/advanced/advanced.html to to your advanced DW control center - on left side near bottom you will see SETUP click it then click ANTENNIA POINTING next (do NOT check the enable OPI box just click next) just click next then NEXT again - preform the test - be sure to click EXIT after the test is preformed. If it fails run it again - fails run it again your transit light and system light should go out while the test is running - if it continues to fail try preforming it till it passes once it passes once click finish and EXIT and eerthing will be fine except if it fails you are going to need someone to repoit the dish manually because your cross pol should NEVER fail - if it does then your speed will pause and lag. - if you cannot pass after trying power cylce down the modem , good luck

dell Posted March 2, 2005 CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 jlester I see you got your dish grounded do the manual 1st then automatic test.
budbem Posted March 2, 2005 CID Share Posted March 2, 2005 just run the automatic i wouldnt run the maual - manual is good if you are at the dish and pointing it manually. if you pass with a 71 etc.. the cross pol is most likely fine 71 is a good score - mine is 70-85 at any given time - if it was 60 or lower it would be a problem
dell Posted March 3, 2005 CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 Hey Jewels and everone else who thinks they are talking to a engineer. 1st there is no tech 3 level 2nd if you do get a call back it's not a engineer it's just tech support do you think DW going to have their engineers calling all these customers. If you beleive that then you will love wildblue also.http:liarway.tripod.com
