Jewelz_tx Posted March 3, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 Well direcway compltely crapped out on me last night. How I was able to even send an email (Hi Rev) is beyond me. But that was the only one I was able to send. I had already talked to Tech Support Level III one time and was told too bad..... Well when my download speed dropped to 13, then to 7, I called back. "One of the Engineers will call you back". Well I just turned my pc off cuz we all know that is not gonna happen. Then about 30 minutes later..... the phone rang. And it was Direcway Tech Support, level III claiming to be an Engineer and once he established that my computer was not the issue for the slow speeds... (he had me unplug my ethernet from the DW6000 and he ran his lil tests.) he changed my transponder again. Still nothing... so we re-commissioned it again.... this time it worked and my sppeds slowly started to increase. As angry and disappointed with direcway that I have been the past couple weeks.... last night, I actually felt like I was being treated like a human. James was his name and although my speeds will never be what they were on DW4000, he at least made the attempt to fix me... and no one else would. I also know that Level II and Level III tech support hang out here. Hell this site was referred to me on several occassions.... so I know they are lurking. lol James and I spent 2 and half hours on the phone and it was midnight (central time) which was 2 hours passed closing time for him. I was impressed to say the least.
YooperLady Posted March 3, 2005 CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 Jewelz: Seems you had better luck with James than I did. Of course I talked with him at 5 p.m. Eastern time, but he told me my problems were all internet related! Too many users online, and too many band width hogs. Ya right *rolling my eyes* When I talked to him I was running way below normal, and after that it only got worse! I called back at 9 p.m. and waited 45 minutes on hold for advanced techs, when it finally rang through, they disconnected me! Called back, and again could not get through, gave up and shut puter down. Here's my speeds for yesterday, and I am on the PRO plan!!! March 2nd, 11:28PM - 6/6 Kbps March 2nd, 11:13PM - 4/8 Kbps March 2nd, 10:23PM - 8/27 Kbps March 2nd, 09:39PM - 10/17 Kbps March 2nd, 07:21PM - 54/196 Kbps March 2nd, 07:20PM - 57/191 Kbps March 2nd, 06:46PM - 91/207 Kbps March 2nd, 06:45PM - 123/233 Kbps March 2nd, 06:44PM - 100/196 Kbps March 2nd, 06:17PM - 165/225 Kbps March 2nd, 06:17PM - 227/196 Kbps March 2nd, 03:37PM - 169/89 Kbps March 2nd, 03:36PM - 224/209 Kbps March 2nd, 01:45PM - 273/194 Kbps March 2nd, 01:44PM - 148/138 Kbps Now mind you, James said it is not my computer, but too many users. HUH? Today I am running ok, but by later I am sure it will start all over again. Last 2 days has SUCKED!! I am also on Sat Mex5 at 1050 mhz, same as you. Jewelz_tx Posted March 3, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 Well the one conclusion I have come to....... Direcway sucks!!! I had the pro plan too and realized I was paying $30 more for nothing.
jlester Posted March 3, 2005 CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 Jewelz- So what is your cross pole? Check it and post! You want your system to work? Check that cross pole!!!!!!! John
Jewelz_tx Posted March 3, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 We did check it last night with Level III techs on the line and ran the test (Automatic), but I am unsure what you want? Isolation was 75 and I passed after several attempts. Is that what you are looking for? We changed transponders twice last night and that was the final one. Jewelz_tx Posted March 3, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 I guess the 75 is what you are looking for..... since your CP is 74, I assume mine is good?

Jewelz_tx Posted March 3, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 Jewelz_tx ...you stll at 1050MHz...or is that the old one.. nope... they moved me last night to the 1050
budbem Posted March 3, 2005 CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 I am still not sure exactly what you mean jewels - you say that you tesetd the cross pol and after a few trys it passed - it should pass everytime (failing only once in a great great while based on weather or conditions when running the test - only run it with clear skies) however if your cross pol passes only once after 3 or 4 tries it needs to be adjusted! plain and simple. Also BE SURE your dish is free about 10 degrees top bottom and side to side - make sure there is nothing such as a limb etc.. within 10 degrees on all sides of the sighting. I have a limb that in the summer when leaves ae on it at night when the leaves turn down or there is alot of dew the signal becomes interferred with- Be sure that the line of sight is clear and clear with 10 degrees to spare. jlester Posted March 3, 2005 CID Share Posted March 3, 2005 Jewels- Do you mean after failing they moved you, then you passed? I am not sure but I was told you just needed to pass "most of them" This from an installer who left me with a cp of 53, 2 minutes of adjusting and it was 74 passing 11 out of 12 or so. Jewelz_tx Posted March 4, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 4, 2005 Was having issues with speeds.... 7 for a download. they walked me through the cross pol thing.. failed several times..... 00 was the number there when I finally did pass.... so he moved me to 1050 did the test again and passed. Isn't it just common sense that if you failed...... they move you and test again til you pass? did I not make that very clear?
JoeOtto Posted March 4, 2005 CID Share Posted March 4, 2005 I beleive that the only true way to improve your results on the cross pol test is to have your installer adjust your dish. Up/Down and Right/Left should not effect it. The rotation does. Someone with more experience on this tell me if I am right. I got my dish tweaked as far as I could peak signal and cross pol. Of course, according to FCC rules, I had my "installer" do it for me!!!
jlester Posted March 5, 2005 CID Share Posted March 5, 2005 Joe- You are correct. A 1 notch turn of your dish in either direction, rotating like a steering wheel will be the amount of adjusting needed if your Cross pole(ACP) is off, 2-3 notches max! Mark the location with a fine marker and loosen the bolts enough to turn dish(like a steering wheel)

rlh24 Posted March 5, 2005 CID Share Posted March 5, 2005 Jewelz_tx, 1-866-259-9445 is the number to the Administrative Office of Direcway. I spoke to a very helpful and nice lady named Ruthy. I can not help you with a pin since mine is old. If someone is willing to post a valid pin. It believe it will work even with the call to Ruthy. Good luck.
