jontalk Posted February 23, 2005 CID Share Posted February 23, 2005 I have been using a D-Link wired router model DI-704 and it appears something burned out on it, as it reduces my speed by about 80% when I run my broadband through it.. My computer guy says this is normal since it's running constantly and it's old. I guess I have to replace it now for firewall protection and am wondering which wired cable/dsl router is the best, as well as most economical. I use a wired router since my laptop and desktop have Goldmine Contact manager loaded on them and I do a data synch regularly. Front Range, developer of Goldmine, says synching with a wirless router can be challenging.. I run a P4 desktop with Win 2K and an IBM P3 laptop also with Win 2K.. Any recommendations for a new router/firewall? I use Comcast broadband and get 3 mb down, 256k up.. Thanks. Jonathan

jontalk Posted February 23, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 23, 2005 Thanks.. much appreciated.. do they make one that's a bit more affordable? I only use one port for periodic data exchange, as I do not have multiple PC's networked.. Just something simple as firewall protection (NAT)..
