Shug7272 Posted March 5, 2005 CID Share Posted March 5, 2005 Ok we have two laptops and both use wireless g internet from my linksys wireless g that is connected to my Cox cable. So me and the wife get on at the same time all the time. No problems right. Ok now cut to Runescape, the dumbest but most fun game ever. So we both play it at the same time and when we do we loose connection at the same time about every five minutes. It will even make my cable modem lose its Internet signal. I know there is no way it should make me lose cable modem signal but it does, I have been watching it for 3 days and it only does it while we are both on runescape. Then it comes back and kicks off in 5 minutes. What the hell do I do? Any takers?
Swimmer Posted March 6, 2005 CID Share Posted March 6, 2005 The only thing that I could think of would be that since you are on the same connection and playing the same game... the computers are sends and receiving packets to the servers using the same IP address... Then when the server sends info back it doesnt know what computer to send it to.. so packets back up and then everything goes.. I am not sure about the modem problem.. but that might have something to do with it.. while you are gaming try and run a ping test to the router.. if you are having packet loss that might be what it is... That is really wierd..

peepnklown Posted March 16, 2005 CID Share Posted March 16, 2005 Linksys makes crappy routers, save yourself time and buy a D-Link or Belkin router.
