I have a 3.00ghz Dell 8400, with 1gb ram and Windows XP.

I live in England and have an NTL 750k connection which runs through a Linksys Router.

I followed the instructions at this post http://www.testmy.net/topic-2097'>http://www.testmy.net/topic-2097 but it didnt improve my speed at all. I also follwoed the basic VanBuren TestMy.net Cablenut settings which didnt improve my speed.

Here are some pasted results that the thread above recommended

RFC1323 Time Stamping:  OFF

Selective Acks:  ON

MSS requested:  1460

TTL:

(less any hops behind firewall)

Max packet recd (MTU): 1500

Retransmitted data packets: 13

sacks you sent: 28

pushed data pkts: 6

data transmit time: 2.146 secs

our max idletime: 332.1 ms

transfer rate: 51700 bytes/sec

transfer rate: 413 kbits/sec

This is not a speed test!

transfer efficiency: 88%

3. ICMP (ping) check

well steve12345....as to im not an expert in broadband tweaks, but i understand few things...your speed of 750k is going to seem lower if u test on a mirror overseas  - thus u can expect not to get full 750k.....u can find a test mirror in england and test that way, it should be accurate
