Hew Jass Posted March 19, 2005 CID Share Posted March 19, 2005 I've disabled quite a few services in the administrator section thing and my downloading speed has gone down dramatically. Can you tell me if I disabled something wrong? Here are the screenshots (P.S sorry for black and white, they were too big) http://img177.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img177&image=untitled9dl.png http://img12.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img12&image=untitled11sc.png http://img12.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img12&image=untitled20ms.png The changes occured only after I tried tweaking ( i used this guideh ttp://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm)

Hew Jass Posted March 19, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 19, 2005 I'm asking what of the services disabled actually hurts my ping times, download speeds etc... lets say a certain service limits my routers performance...
Blako Posted March 19, 2005 CID Share Posted March 19, 2005 Some of you might have noticed my many referals to pcpitstop.com but, Hew Jass, if you run out of options this 3-5min test will tell you many things from what you have disabled to what processes you have running and where they came from. http://pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/pitstop.asp
REH Posted March 19, 2005 CID Share Posted March 19, 2005 Here ya go man, here is one of BlackViper's registry settings, this is the "Safe" configuration which is basically all of your not needed services turned off, and the ones that you need to function with turned on. -REH
