I have no extra protocols installed and my nic is set to 100 full duplex. There is no spyware and no viruses and currently no firewall service running or even installed.. I ran ccleaner and cablenut with the file Vanburen posted specifically for another roadrunner premium user.. I turned off UPnP on the router, but I suspect it is something there that is slowing me down. I was able to get up around 3124 down this morning, but that is the highest it has been... I just upgraded to the Premium service yesterday, but these speeds are lower than what I should have gotten with even the basic service. I have been reading though the forums since last night looking for anything that would be pertinent to my situation, but I have not found anything. Any help from you guys would be much appreciated! Stank_Ho Posted March 19, 2005 CID Share Posted March 19, 2005 Hello , welcome!! Since I've seen our resident expert (Vanny, he's sleeping now) do this a million times over, I'll ask have you gone to dslreports and run a tweek test? If not, go here http://www.broadbandreports.com/tweaks and post the results back in this thread. Also run a line test there and do the same, post the results (link the page here) He'll need to look at those to see where the problem may be. Rikostan Posted March 19, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 19, 2005 Thanks for the advice and the welcome! Okay, I rmade the changes with cablenut and rebooted the PC.. I also recycled the power to the modem.. I did that a few times over the last 24 hours , but just to keep pace with your instructions, I did it again.. VanBuren Posted March 19, 2005 CID Share Posted March 19, 2005 first make a new pathping, that pathping was not complete ( it will take several minutes to complete ) i think its your router or modem slowing you down, try bypassing your router and connect your PC direct to modem via ethernet, change your NIC to 10 Mbps half duplex during this test VanBuren
Rikostan Posted March 19, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 19, 2005 The pathping brought me back to the prompt, so I assumed it was done.. I re-did it though and I see what you mean.. weird that the other one stopped right after it showed the hops.. Unfortunately, connecting directly to the cable modem will take a bit of work.. I'll have to do that bit later if the following info does not shed any light. Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] © Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
