I have tried doing all of the ffixes and stuff, but nothing seems to work. Perhaps i am doing it wrong. Also, i am behind a linksys wrt54g wireless router, if that changes anything. Also, when i have a bittorrent client open, my internet speed drops dramatically. Even if i have speeds of 5kB down 3kB up, everything slows down and i get tons of time outs. BigRooster Posted March 23, 2005 CID Share Posted March 23, 2005 There are a couple ways to go about this: 1) Purchase a program such as NetLimiter which you would have to install on at least the 2 PC's you want to limit 2) Buy a router that allows you to set restrictions based on date, time, etc. such as Linksys wrt54g (i dunno what brand/model router you have)....there might be more ways, but those are the easiest. Some people here including me have performed speed test comparisons between FF and IE and most of us don't see much of a difference. As for your connection, wireless usually does glow slower through floors and walls. Yes wired would be faster, at least in transferring files between your own LAN. I dont know which one i am supposed to run or anythign about that at all. i know that bittorrent slows down my computer, but it slows it down to the point where the internet is useless, and i cant load websites. (i get time outs). is that normal? I just did the speed check on my downstairs computer, which is wired to the router. The results were much much better. The downstairs computer is running of a fresh install of xp home (no sp), so i have to imagine it is the wireless.
