Swimmer Posted August 21, 2004 CID Share Posted August 21, 2004 Have any of you tried to game on one of these connections?? I do realize that this is designed for the rural area where there is nothing... Great idea but needs improvement

Great idea but needs improvementNo, and who cares, and yes I can agree there, its needs improvements, its getting crowded. By the way, if someone can shorten any of the satellite's orbit then there you go.
MICROWAVE Posted August 22, 2004 CID Share Posted August 22, 2004 Satellite serves people that are unable to get anything else, which I believe was its intention in the beginning. I remember reading where it was thought that they could somehow conquer the speed issue in the future but, it still has not happened. There are still places out in the boonies that this service is good for them....but I think if they dont solve their speed issue in the near future it will go the way of the beta-max and the eight track.....lol Microwave
Gildo Posted August 22, 2004 CID Share Posted August 22, 2004 Here's my opinion of you entire situation. You say you've made thousands of tweaks? You make changes based on what tech support tells you at the time? It sounds to me like the whole system is FUBAR. I'd reformat and do a clean install of XP Pro on every pc on the network, or at a minimum, I'd reformat one of them, and take the others offline. I'd then hook up ONLY that pc with the new installation of XP PRO to the DirecWay connection and see what the performance is then. The next thing I'd do is create a Backup Image of that pc's hard drive, and then if you need to call tech support and they foul up the works again, then you go always Restore from the Backup Image. Clear as mud? Good luck, Gil My Speed, YEE HAW! :::..
