maxboost7 Posted June 7, 2005 CID Share Posted June 7, 2005 What is normal speed for copy about 2GB worth stuff? I have decent computer but it takes forever!! I meant like 4 hrs.. Is it normal to take this long? I am using nero's DVD software that came with DVD. I was expecting same as my CD-R speed which is less than 10 min to copy full CD.. Let me know if you know anything about DVDR
Bones_McGhee Posted June 7, 2005 CID Share Posted June 7, 2005 What is the write speed of your DVD burner? But I wouldn't think any relatively new burner would ever take that long to burn something. edit////////// Funnily enough, I was burning a dvd while writing my comment and at 16x it took about 6 to 7 minutes for a full (around 4.3 gigs) disc. I've got a P4 2.8 with 1 gig of ram.

maxboost7 Posted June 7, 2005 Author CID Share Posted June 7, 2005 like when i am trying to copy Dvix or movie file, It trying to encode first and that's what it taking forever..
hurricane_floyd Posted June 7, 2005 CID Share Posted June 7, 2005 That has nothing to do with your burner. All video encoding programs take a loong time on typical home systems. They have to re-encode 25 or 30 frames per each second of video, if they are doing a very good speed of 10 frames per second then it will take 3 times as long to encode as the video legnth is, 1 hour of video = 3 hours encoding. Some programs are a little better than others, I reccomend Tsunami MPEG Encoder (TMPG Enc), Google it.
maxboost7 Posted June 7, 2005 Author CID Share Posted June 7, 2005 yeah well, that's why it seems to be forever to complete CD... encoding producer is pain in the ass.. I was fool enough to believe it will copy like music CD.. guess i was wrong..
hurricane_floyd Posted June 7, 2005 CID Share Posted June 7, 2005 If you are talking about copying movies then DVD Shrink can do it in about an hour plus whatever time it takes to burn a full speed disk on your burner, probably 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
