NVMCP.SYS BSOD Temp Fix

To Everyone,

A quick fix for the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) or shut down and restart randomly when playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 on motherboards that have the nforce 2 chipset is as follows.

1. Right Click on "My Computer" on your desktop or start menu and scroll down to "Properties" in the menu and click it.

2. Click on the "Hardware" Tab

3. Click on the "Device Manager" button

4. Click the plus sign next to "Sound, video and game controllers"

5. Right click on the "NVIDIA® nForce Audio Codec Interface" or the audio interface for NVIDIA that contains the driver "NVMCP.SYS" and scroll down to "Disable" and click it

6. Click "Yes" on the warning that pops up.

This will disable your sound in windows and in the game. So when you are done playing be sure you go back and re-enable it when you are done playing.

I know that this is not the best thing in the world but it is a fix that has worked for me and many others so that we can enjoy the game. I just hope that a real fix for the problem is developed very soon. If this does not help you with the issue please follow up to this message and I will see what I can do to help you find a solution.

well thanx to all and yes i was using the audio on board

i originally got a Catalina for my 5.1 surround unfortunately

i remove it in diagnosing my previous problem (INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR blue screen)

and just left it off

well so far so good i played gta san Andreas for more than 2 hours

until the new air conditioner i put in my room kicked on and surged the whole house

(tommarrow i be electrician)

of course do i need to say it

upon reboot got the old power error blue screen

i just let it set 15 min go through blue screen 2 or 3 times and

wallah  I'm up and running

you wouldn't have a fix for that would ya

any ways should i disable nvmcp.sys anyways or

is it already done by disabling the audio in the bios

Glad we could help, and to anwser your question, no you shouldnt have to disable the "nvmcp.sys" if you disabled the whole audio all togeather. nvmcp is only neded when the card is running.
