I get high ping and it spikes from low to high, help plz!

i have a wireful router with 2 computers connected on it, its a linksys BEFSR41 version1.

here are the tests.i play a game called counter-strike but i spike lags from 30 ping to 2000. This didnt used to happen

u MIGHT need to update your routers firmware, and then see if your STILL losing packets before you call your ISP. Be sure you familiarize yourself with your router, and how to flash it's firmware.

Some routers have it on their "configuration" panel, within the routers firmware address, (usually 192.168.1.1) look for "update firmware"

other then making sure all your filters/barrel connecters are in tact.. this would be your only other choice.. then, u might want to request a "homerun" if it's an ongoing problem.

homerun = from node to modem, nothing in between, nothing split off of, like tv or voip phone,
