Mactron Posted June 22, 2005 CID Share Posted June 22, 2005 Try a speed test site a little closer to you. Speed testing half way across the North American continent is not the best. Since your apparently in the Tampa FL area and the site here is in Dallas TX there's an awful lot of hops and losses along the way. Try here... http://atl.speakeasy.net/ a couple times and post back what you get. HTH
VanBuren Posted June 22, 2005 CID Share Posted June 22, 2005 i think its your modem, call your ISP and let them check the signals from your tweaktest "RTT min: 96.9 ms RTT max: 634.7 ms RTT avg: 341.7 ms" VanBuren
zasc Posted June 22, 2005 Author CID Share Posted June 22, 2005 Well, I'm in Tampa. I tried to follow all the instructions in the sticky. I should have paid attention where the testmy website was. I visited Mactron's website and got this: 2005-06-22 14:03:27 EST: 701 / 67 Your download speed : 718567 bps, or 701 kbps. A 87.7 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 68870 bps, or 67 kbps. Is this reasonable? I really seems like my connections can really lag sometimes.
Mactron Posted June 22, 2005 CID Share Posted June 22, 2005 Is this reasonable? I really seems like my connections can really lag sometimes. No and I'll bet You should be getting more like what I get. Click my Sig link. That's what 3000/768 VZ DSL should look like. Ok questions: 1)Have you rebooted your DSL modem and router ? If not do so and try again. 2)How do you "know" your on "Service is Verizon DSL advertized @ 3megs." ? 3)Have you ever run the Westell dianognostic program to check ? If not, read this...http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/7553 Your sync rate should be if I'm remembering correctly, 3360/860 if you really have 3000/
zasc Posted June 22, 2005 Author CID Share Posted June 22, 2005 Answers: 1. Yes, i've rebooted the modem and router without effect. 2. You know, what, after posting that I did some research. I can't find any speed indication on my bill or any mention of actual speed numbers on verizon.com. So maybe I'm only half that. Verizon is doing a pretty big campaign here bragging how they upgraded everyone to 3mbs. Maybe I'm 1.5? 3. I followed the Westell link but the zip file I repetively d/led is corrupted. resijs Posted June 22, 2005 CID Share Posted June 22, 2005 You're actually at 786, Tampa here is mostly 1.5 386 upgrade, hope you get that upgrade. They don't do it automatically, just call them and ask for it, it's free and usually occures with in the day with no guy coming to your house or anything.
