The Vorpal Tribble Posted July 1, 2005 CID Share Posted July 1, 2005 To put it in a nutshell my power went out during a storm and when it came back on my comp was acting very strange. Windows Explorer is continuously 'encountering a problem and needs to close'. I push the 'don't send' button, explorer shuts down, comes back up within a few moments, and behold, 20 seconds later it encounters a problem and repeats. I thought maybe I had a virus for a time, but I don't believe thats it as I've run like half a dozen checkers and nothing shows. This is its 'error signature' if it helps: AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00000000 Any help would be great. falco Posted July 1, 2005 CID Share Posted July 1, 2005 if you are running Windows XP, use your system restore and use a restore point that was saved before your power outage.

peepnklown Posted July 1, 2005 CID Share Posted July 1, 2005 If system restore did not work you can do something else. You will need the Windows XP CD. Start
