VanBuren Posted July 12, 2005 CID Share Posted July 12, 2005 hey ledzepp14 and welcome to the forum asfar as i know OOL is 10 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up try bypassing your router, just connect your PC direct to modem via ethernet powercycle modem, leave it off for 30 full seconds and now test speed again also make a tweaktest, for "advertised speed" set it to 10000 VanBuren
ledzepp14 Posted July 12, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 12, 2005 Hi Van Buren, thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, I can't connect directly wired to my modem, as it is upstairs already hooked up to 2 computers. I was wondering if you could help me tweak for a wireless connection. I've also tried to put in 10000 for the tweak test but it only lets me put in 4 digits, so it could only put in 1000. I tried to do that test on #3 on your sticky. ledzepp14 Posted July 12, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 12, 2005 When I test the speeds, does it matter that I use Firefox rather than IE? REV0LUTI0NIZED Posted July 12, 2005 CID Share Posted July 12, 2005 The firewall might be the problem causing this. Turn it off and do a test.
ledzepp14 Posted July 12, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 12, 2005 I did a few more speed test. Once more with the firewall on and this is what I got. Is it possible to edit the value more in Cablenut? I have the OOL 10000 1000 settings on just like what VanBuren told me. Upload speed is still very very slow, both with firewall on and off. I've read about ISPs capping, so this might be the reason for my very slow upload speed that is stuck on 17kB/s. :::.. php Posted July 12, 2005 CID Share Posted July 12, 2005 Yea, ISPs cap... that's what makes it so you can't get over your advertised speed (by much anyway) If the connection wasn't capped, the only limit to your speed would be the capabilities of the hardware...
