netmasta Posted July 13, 2005 CID Share Posted July 13, 2005 Does anyone know how to sidescroll (left-right) with a wheel mouse in Firefox? I can do it in IE but not FF. I have a Kenisington Pilot Mouse Optical Wireless.
php Posted July 13, 2005 CID Share Posted July 13, 2005 Well, you can click with the wheel and move the mouse a little bit to the left or right...
netmasta Posted July 13, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 13, 2005 I forgot to mention, I tried that. That just controls how smooth/fast the window scrolls up and down.
php Posted July 13, 2005 CID Share Posted July 13, 2005 I don't understand your response very well... clicking with the wheel allows you to scroll in any direction at almost any speed...
netmasta Posted July 13, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 13, 2005 In FF, I scroll the wheel, the page scrolls up & down. I click the wheel, it scrolls the same way, but slower. Click again & repeat. If I'm using IE, it will scroll up & down, when I click the wheel in IE, it scrolls left - right. I hope that was clearer. php Posted July 13, 2005 CID Share Posted July 13, 2005 Ok, I think you have a different setup than me... when I click the mouse wheel, this cursor pops up and I can move the mouse to scroll in any direction continuously...
Cobra Posted July 14, 2005 CID Share Posted July 14, 2005 Yea, me too. I think, though, that he means the newer mouses where the middle button can be tilted left or right to move from side to side. My Logitech MX1000 does that, and it works fine in any program that can scroll side to side. I'd just say either Customer Support or try fiddling with some settings. When I first got my MX1000, the back/forward buttons would only work in IE and Explorer, but not Firefox. The FAQ on Logitech's site said to make the back button use the keystroke command Alt+Left and forward Alt+Right, so now it works (though I found a better solution later on, on my own). netmasta Posted July 14, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 14, 2005 Well, I just double checked my settings. Left - right does work in IE, cmd, etc., But not Firefox. I don't know much about the settings in about:config, but maybe there's something there.

My back - foward (button 4 & 5) do work in FF. My mouse wheel doesn't move side to side.
Cobra Posted July 14, 2005 CID Share Posted July 14, 2005 Wait, so you do have the tilt function? I think you're still not making this the easiest problem to fix.
netmasta Posted July 14, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 14, 2005 No I do not have the tilt function. If I click the wheel in a program other than Firefox it changes from up-down to left-right.
