monsnet2k8 Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 What is wrong with Norton that everyone i know wants to get rid of? I had it on my computer since 2003 and it has never giving me problems or deleted files like other anti virus programs have... I know for a fact that it doesn't block all spyware, adware, viruses and when i do get infected and Norton won't get rid of it' i use AVG or log in into trend micro online free VIRUS scan and get rid of viruses there.. i know it runs like 8 processes n thats alot but until i can find a program that can block all ads and pop ups and all viruses i will keep Noron... richcornucopia Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 IMO Norton isnt that horrible of a product, but I still dislike it. Being one of the most popular AVS softwares it makes it the most vulnerable to hackers who create viruses. I believe that they are thinking, "Well If I want this virus to infect the most computers I'll have it target the most popular software." Personally I think there are much better alternatives to Norton on the market these days, I love Avast Anti Virus.
monsnet2k8 Posted July 21, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 I See its like IE being attacked and everyone trying to or changing to Firefox or others...well i don't want to uninstall norton until i find a better program... i also have AVG professional but im not sure how good it is.... richcornucopia Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 Yea IE and Norton are pretty similar in the way they are criticized. Both being the most used product, it obvious opens them up to more attacks. So of course there will be more security problems, or some kind of other bug with them. pitbull481 Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 I use AVG for anti-virus and Zonealarm for firewall (both free for personal use). At this time I am trying out Kaspersky anti-virus just to see how it is. Sooner or later I'll go back to AVG I tried Avast, didnt like it
Blunted Posted July 21, 2005 CID Share Posted July 21, 2005 programs i use and never get anything that i know of or ever see anything that might be a virus. i think they best thing that stops me from getting them is kerio firewall. it will ask you about any program that trys to start, modify files and wont let and ip's or viruses in cause you have to allow it. AVG norton 2004 pro spybot 1.4 adaware se personal kerio personal firewall security task manager

NIS is best for my needs..
