How do i reflash,hardreset router?

Hey i have the befSR41 version 3 router, how do i reflash my router. I want to know how its done properly

you have to get the new firmware for the the compies web site then type in the ip adress for the router I think its 192.168.1.254 and go thrue the menu and find where it reads update firmware then find the new firmware (the file you got) and click update firmware and click update

My router doesnt seem to share the same performance when both computers are on, it doesnt have the same speed as if i were using the connection by my self.

if you want to "reflash" or upgrade the firmware on the router for a linksys befSR41 you need to have an ethernet connection to the router.. with all other computer connections removed.. open ie and type 192.168.1.1 into the address box.. then follow the screen to the firmware section.

I have done that, but my problem is that my router isnt sharing the same speed as if i were using the connection by it self

You are going to have to configure the MTU and maybe do some tweaking on the computer to get that speed..

When i do ping yahoo.com -f -l 1500 it says packets needs to be fragmented but DF set.

did you read the instructions?  start at 1472 and work down until you get a reply.. most of the linksys router work will on 1492.. so that would be 1492-28.. 1464

you might want to try the Make it faster forum...  They should be able to get the TCP window sized correctly.  that might help the speed..

I will set you up a thread.. for this problem in the make it faster.. i am going to need the speed test results from the direct connect.. and the one going though the router..

They are both the same speed, it is just when the other computer is using high bandwith, so in games or web browsing or speed testing it spikes and sluggish. So when the router for the computer port is blinking a lot it lags

that is normal.. you are hitting the cap.. you dont have endless bandwidth..  so if one computer is pulling more bandwidth than the other.. the other computer is going to get what ever the bandwidth left..

linksys told me to change duplex to 10mbs half duplex to avoid data collision

upgrade you package to a high speed.. that will cost $$ otherwise you could get a new router with QoS and set how much speed each computer gets... like 50/50 or what ever you want.. that way you have a set amount no matter what...

I would.. if you have that option on the router.. i think most of the Linksys wired routers have it. i will allow you to control alot of stuff when it comes to speed..

Should i set this to 0 on my computer, and leave 20% and the computer i dont use. So i can get the better connection

Linksys website is down, ill check it out later, too bad i dont have qos packet on router. So far i have 10 mb half duplex on both computers and qos packet is on both computers as well. I want to get a better connection than my other computer. It is really annoying how it lags and spikes when using high bandwith.
