ArcticWolf Posted August 13, 2005 CID Share Posted August 13, 2005 I found my dial up modem in another computer and installed it in my computer, now Windows 98 automatically detects it as a Rockwell v34 voice Speakerphone PnP. But I know that is the chipset being used on the modem. But that doesn't tell me what type of brand of modem it is. It's a 33.6k modem and I'm trying to download the latest drivers for it...but I have no clue what to look for to download. Can anyone help please. cholla Posted August 13, 2005 CID Share Posted August 13, 2005 Windows doesn't do a very good job of identifying your modem. The best information would be in the control panel modemdiagnosticsmore information highlight your modem (you have to be offline to access this) .System information may tell you some more. then go to the site in the link below. If you will get as many serial numbers off your modem chips as you can find first it will help when you get to the site.If there is software to do the identification I would like to know it too.I did mine manually & went to this site. http://www.modem-help.com/
Swimmer Posted August 13, 2005 CID Share Posted August 13, 2005 You might want to try sandra sisoft2005.. It should detect the modem manufacturer as long as you have drivers installed of some sort.. I dont have anything installed.. it comes up as a ? on my device manager..
cholla Posted August 13, 2005 CID Share Posted August 13, 2005 Swimmer the sandra sisoft2005 looked like a good program so I checked it out.Un fortunatly it is for windows 2000 & newer. So it won't help Artic Wolf with 98 or me with ME.btw there is an update if you don't have it.
