raptors892004 Posted August 27, 2005 CID Share Posted August 27, 2005 Anyone heard of the GoGoData.com toolbar? I dont know if it has spyware (claims it doesnt, but I'll run multiple scans anyway), but it has pop-up and ad blocker and its all free. It also has search features, password managers and other pointless stuff, and the ad blocking actually works perfectly every single time .. Anyone have any experience with it, please post a reply .. Thanks in advance
RTB Posted August 27, 2005 CID Share Posted August 27, 2005 I'm very suspicious of all toolbars, that's why I'll never ever have one installed. Except for StatBar.
netmasta Posted August 27, 2005 CID Share Posted August 27, 2005 I've never heard of it, but most all toolbars track something. The only toolbar I use is Yahoo!, until there is a Firefox version of Alexa that is.
raptors892004 Posted August 28, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 28, 2005 Well, Download.com rates it 5/5 (editors review) and it is discontinued (no more support for bugs), but I didn't read the company of GoGoData.com's website Privacy stuff.. I haven't even opened their site, but I don't know if they collect any information.. I hope they don't, but they may because 2 other programs run with windows from the toolbar (Tray Icon and AdServer which I think blocks the ads).. netmasta Posted August 28, 2005 CID Share Posted August 28, 2005 It looks likne their toolbar is now gone The GoGoData Toolbar, free version, is now dead....we have worked over 1 year on this project, and have lost a considerable amount of time and money making this toolbar (Free to the user does not mean it was free to make). Therefore, since there is no motivation to continue working and losing further money, we are no longer supporting or continuing to improve the free toolbar. raptors892004 Posted August 29, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 29, 2005 It looks likne their toolbar is now gone Its still available for download from download.com and other sites, but there is no support for it no more (no bug resolution).. Its the only free one that works.. I also tried various other that work with the hosts file, but they screw up IE, and this one doesn't.. I hope it doesn't transmit any personal info like surfing habits
