swodie Posted August 29, 2005 CID Share Posted August 29, 2005 I have Comcast and I purchase 5 additional IPs for $9.90 a month. Is it better to use a router or additional IP addresses?
resopalrabotnick Posted August 29, 2005 CID Share Posted August 29, 2005 that depends entirely upon what for.
swodie Posted August 29, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 29, 2005 Well, I guess for quality of connection and speed.
resopalrabotnick Posted August 29, 2005 CID Share Posted August 29, 2005 shouldn't affect either. either way. with a router you usually get the firewall thrown in. not a bad thing. with multiple ip's you have several comps hooked up, each with it's own ip. sounds like a honeypot to me. swodie Posted August 29, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 29, 2005 I have never heard the term honeypot, but I have 3 xbox's and 3 pc's if that is what you mean.
resopalrabotnick Posted August 29, 2005 CID Share Posted August 29, 2005 a honeypot is a network set up to attract hackers and other scum in order to monitor their activities in a controlled environment.

Using a router would be cheaper. Unless you need a static IP for whatever.
