rocket_tom Posted September 10, 2005 CID Share Posted September 10, 2005 Why is it that the reported upload speed from this site (testmy.net) is 18 kB/sec but the test on http://www.dslreports.com/speedtests reports an upload speed of 384 kBps? I have tested each multiple times, so it's not just a sampling error. :::.. netmasta Posted September 10, 2005 CID Share Posted September 10, 2005 Yea it can be confusing. Two things I do know though. File sizes are measures in KB, MB, GB, etc. were the capital B means bytes, Vs. Internet connection speeds are measured in Kb,Mb,Gb, etc. where the small b is bits. raptors892004 Posted September 11, 2005 CID Share Posted September 11, 2005 difference is that 1 KB = 8 kilobits(Kb).. Therefore a 384 Kb (kilobits) connection would be 48 KB (kilobytes) Link to comment https://testmy.net/ipb/topic/7596-differences-in-tested-upload-speeds/#findComment-78972 Share on other sites
