Elite.Pete Posted September 12, 2005 CID Share Posted September 12, 2005 my internet has been dropping alot lately... so i looked in event viewer and this is what i found.. how do i fix this Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0011116FB9CF. The following error occurred: The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. this happens alot also i called comcast and they had me turn my dns client service off.. Your computer has lost the lease to its IP address 192.168.1.101 on the Network Card with network address 0011116FB9CF. If no, how is your modem connected to your pc (e.g.: usb or ethernet connection, or is it dial up)..?

resopalrabotnick Posted September 12, 2005 CID Share Posted September 12, 2005 too lazy to look it up but if that router uses NAT you need to either turn it's dhcp on or give your comp a fixed ip. as long as the router then gets its ip from the modem all should be good. from your post it looks like the comp is asking the router for an ip... give it that same ip manually.
