Grambler Posted November 7, 2005 CID Share Posted November 7, 2005 OK... I realy need some help with this one. I have a DVD-ROM and a DVD-RW in my machine. The system and OS (XP media center edition) both see the drives for what they are until I insert a DVD into either drive. At that time the icon in MY COMPUTER changes to CD-DRIVE designation and will not read the DVD. The DVD-RW will read and write cds with no problem. Thanks in advance. BTW..this is a fresh install of windows also.
lorne Posted November 9, 2005 CID Share Posted November 9, 2005 Have you tried a different brand of DVD? Some DVD players don't like certain brands of DVD and think it is a CD. Ritek is 1 of the best brands out ther maybe give them a try.
resopalrabotnick Posted November 9, 2005 CID Share Posted November 9, 2005 are you sure the dvd drive is dvd-rw compatible?
Grambler Posted November 9, 2005 Author CID Share Posted November 9, 2005 The is DVD-RW compatable, and it does not seem to matter what kind of DVD I use.
