barutcu Posted November 20, 2005 CID Share Posted November 20, 2005 Below are the information I gathered based on the suggestions. Please help me figure out where the problem lies.... I appreciate any help. 1. What OS are you running? Examples: Windows 98, Windows XP. If you have XP make sure you have SP2 installed! Also download the p2p fix for SP2 here WInmdows XP Pro SP2 2. cholla Posted November 20, 2005 CID Share Posted November 20, 2005 barutcu: I would suggest first that you try the testmy test with your firewall disabledto see if it is causing the speed to be slow. You probably should DL Cablenut & try the file for your connection. The Cablenut settings are easy to remove if you don't like them. You can even use it to detect your current settings .Just make a copy of them & put them back. On what the results of the tests show I sure your RWIN is too small for your connection. On # 16 if you use a value above 65535 for TcpWindowSize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize then Tcp13230pts needs to be set to 1 to enable it .If you use 64240 as a multiple of 44 x 1460 which would be the windows scale to 1 then use 0. VanBuren Posted November 21, 2005 CID Share Posted November 21, 2005 15. Go to VanBuren TestMy.net Cablenut settings and install Cablenut 4.08 and Vanburens cablenut settings version 7 when you installed Cablenut, just unzip the custom settings i made ( version 7) to a new folder anywhere on your hard drive browse to this path VanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_7_ALL_WIN_OS_AND_SATCABLE_DSL_FIBER_DIAL-UPWinXP_2K_CABLE_DSLMSS1460 now dubble click on Cable & DSL 4000 384.ccs now you see cablenut adjuster with alot of values, click "save to registry" and reboot your PC test speed again VanBuren

FallowEarth Posted November 22, 2005 CID Share Posted November 22, 2005 Hey barutcu, welcome to the forum. Could you post a traceroute to google.com while your speeds are low? A traceroute is the best indication of what your actual, physical connection is doing. The reason that this is important is because if your traceroute is fine, then you know you have some software running that is messing with your test results. VanBuren Posted November 23, 2005 CID Share Posted November 23, 2005 you should connect via ethernet to your router and set your NIC to 100Mbps full duplex if router still slowing you down, it might be a damaged cable between router/ computer i assume you using the same cable between modem/ computer and modem/router also update routerfirmware VanBuren
