If its not the client pcs and connecting cables, maybe we can call this a paradox .. its not the OS, not spyware/antivirus, not router/cables, not internet service... This maybe another one of the Internet mysteries.. Hope you fix it though

Have you tried switching connecting cables? That's rarely it but that's the last reason I can think of why your internet behaves that way.. Since the router worked and everything was fine before and you still are covered by warranty, best thing is to return the router for repair.. Maybe someone from the forum can think of other reasons for this unusual situation

I just use http://www.arin.net/whois for whois searches

You should scan for spyware/viruses because those nasties can slow down your internet...
Anti-spyware:
http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022-10122137.html?part=dl-spybot&subj=dl&
Antivirus:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
http://housecall.trendmicro.com <- Online free virus scanner
It could also be from your connection and as coknuck said you should try tweaking your internet connection.. Good luck
-
better write it down next time.. i lost so many .rars that way too

just stick with what you have.. that's my advice.. think of it this way - its better than dial-up
-
nice speeds .. welcome to the forum btw

WinMX was shut down as other users said.. I don't believe its up again but go to http://www.portforward.com for port forwarding information for routers

try again directly connecting the internet modem to your computer (via USB or Ethernet) and see whether you get the same slow speeds.. If you get high speeds by connecting it directly, before you call them, change some of the cables connecting the modem to router and router to client pc's.. It may be faulty wires, but it could just as well be a faulty router.. Good luck

There are free firewalls such as Zone Alarm Personal and Kerio Personal that watch out for attacks and then block them.. You have to set up rules for them (for what programs can have access to the internet), but after that setup its pretty much run in the background and sometimes edit the rules so new programs can access the Internet.. I do not bielieve you need all 3 firewalls (I only have 1software + 1 hardware in my router )

ok great. No longer seeing the invalid boot message so it looks like once again I was able to get better and faster answers here then from any other site or person. Thanks to all that helped with this

Sorry, your score of 132115 Kbps is over TestMy.net's max of 60000 Kbps. I doubt your connection is faster than 60000 Kbps... Please RETEST
I do something wrong?
try a different test mirror and clear your cache just in case

lol but it looks soooo sleek. plus, we dont have any dark themes, they're all super bright=sucks at night
helps keeps the wolves away

No, I gotta say, it really isn't your right...I got the Ultimate Edition, lol, so... it kicks @$$
But, you do need a really powerful computer. Anyway, what's funny is that you can acutally set Vista from the default theme to the older style, though I'm not sure why you would...
hehe.. I got the new OS for the theme and now i want the older OS look

As rammolo said, you can also use the SpeedGuide TCP Analyzer to see your connection settings and your maximum speeds (for my connection, it gave me pretty accurate results).. You can find it here.. Good luck

Maybe its the splitters at your house that are faulty or the cable that runs from the wall to the modem.. I had a problem with the splitters which caused my Internet to significantly go down in speeds and eventually stop working.. Tech guy came with a new modem but only replaced the splitter because that was the actual cause of the problem
