hey everyone my seagate 120 gig external hard drive has errors on it according to seagates disk check tools at their website, so i have used the check disk to find and correct errors and it completes the test. but when i go to run seagates disk check tools it still says i have errors on the hard drive. is there any other options to fix these errors? thank you rhapsodyfan

thanks for the replys i have an extra 512 PC2700 DDR DIMM could i use that one with the new memory stick or is that a bad idea?

hi all i am trying to add a 512 DDR PC3200 400MHz to a dell demension 4600 which also takes the same type of ram. when i install it the computer reads it at 512mb but when i right click on my computer and select properties the general tab information says i have only 256MB. the computer came with two 128MB sticks and i have 4 slots for memory. again the new memory and the original memory are the same specs, just cant seem to get the 512 stick to read properly. any thoughts on this? i sure hope this all makes sence to somebody. thanks everyone for the help.

hey i bought the sony burner and its great. i have another question. i have three dual layer dvd burners now and i am going to keep my sony (of course) i want to give one to my brother in law, i have a Mad Dog MegaStor 7 in 1 16X dvd+R+RW and a Lite-On DVD+RDL the model is a SOHW -1633S. which one of the two is the better one? i have used the Mad Dog for a month and it seems to work just fine and the other burner i have only used twice burning a cd-r. hey thanks for any reply's take care everyone. rhapsodyfan

hey is it possible to mix diffrent ram sticks? i have a HP desktop that is 3 months old and it has PC2700 DDR RAM and i just bought a new HP desktop and it came with PC3200 SDRAM. is it possible to use the PC2700 with the PC3200 SDRAM? just making sure by the way i love this site lots of smart people!!

hi everyone as you can tell i am not too computer knowledge but i just bought this new HP and it came with a dvd+r/rw and a dvd-rom. my question is can i replace the dvd-rom with my other dvd+r/rw? i really like my second dvd burner from my other computer. sorry for posting so much but i really need to learn more. thanks

hi sorry for another post but it seems like i have another problem here. when i hook up my external hard drive by usb to the computer it seems to work fine. but its when i restart the computer i get an Error Finding OS. when i turn off the external hard drive and restart the computer it restarts just fine. this is a new computer HP one day old. any ideas or suggestions? i checked the usb ports and it does it with them all. its a Seagate 120 GIG External Hard Drive which by the way works fine on my other HP desktop.

hi i took that computer back and exchanged it for the same computer and this hard drive is alot quieter. not noisey at all.

i would say a clicking sound hard to explain it only does it when i open files or looking through the c drive wish i can explain it better.

hey everyone i just bought a new HP computer today and i have a question about the hard drive. i still have my 5 month old HP computer and it came with a 40 GIG 5400rpm hard drive. didnt hear to much noise from it at all, this new computer came with a 120 GIG 7200rpm drive and it is alot louder than my other one. when i made my dvd backup discs it was pretty loud. is the hard drive bad or is this normal? thanks for any help!!

hi all hey i am going to be buying a new hard drive 80 gig seagate internal, my question is my XP is on a partition drive and i have no XP cd. how do i transfer everything from the old drive to the new hard drive?? thanks for any help.

i just use the computer for music dvd watching Nero 6 Ultra Power DVD 6 rip my cd collection ect... no gaming thats about it and some work related stuff.

just wanted to see if it was really necessery to upgrade if i wont see to much improvement.

hi everyone i just noticed that my hard drive is a 5400 RPM!! whhats the diffrence between that and a 7200 RPM. do i need to upgrade it? also i use a celeron 2.9ghz which the computer is only 2 months old and my wife uses a AMD athalon at work and is about 5 months old both are HP computers, and she swears mine is faster than hers. we both have 512mb of memory but her's is a 2.0ghz. i always thought AMD were faster than any Celeron. any ideas to help me understand all of this?? thank you so much everyone

just wondering what the comcast splitters are? wouldnt they know which splitters slowed the speed down? would there be much of a diffrence from a 4ghz to a 2ghz?

well then i am out of luck i guess. my apartment building is about a year old and i have two sets of splitters going from the second bedroom to the living room and from the living room jack their is another splitter going to the master bedroom. so if that is the reason my internet loses speed then i am out of luck cause i get about 3.5 to 4.0 MB and i am on the comcast 6000/768 plan along with their premium gold package for cable tv. so my bill is about 145.00 a month. i was hoping to get at least 5.8 or so MB but no where close to it

hey everyone what is the best way to go to achive this?? i want to back up my cd collection to cd-r so i cant scratch my cd collection. i have about 300 cd's so i need to know a good program to do this. i have a cd-rw drive and a dvd-rw drive. i also have Nero Ultra Edition and the Exact Audio Copy program as well. any ideas??? dont know much about this stuff by the way. thanks!!!

i would if i could but HP didnt send any cd of XP the install is on the computer on a partition drive.
