  1. Oh come on. I live in Buffalo and i'm still puttin along at my slow speeds. I wasnt even aware that rr had speeds like that in our area. :::.. This test here is actually one of my highest ever. I rarely ever get to 4000kbps. Which is suppose to be my cap. I got the 4/384 package still from the adelphia changeover

  4. I love football and golf as well. But Hockey is whats on TV now so thats what I watch. Here in NY its finally getting warm enough to go out golfing. I'll have to polish up my clubs.
  5. I have Vista Home Premium installled on my Dell E1505 Laptop and It runs very smoothly. Applications open almost instantly and the whole operating system itself seems quite quick. Vista is sooooo many useful features that were lacking in XP and it does look a lot better. Most of the driver bugs have been hammered out except for some video cards. Unless your a hardcore gamer you'll probably like vista better than XP. 2GB of memory does help but I have about 1300MB free so it is doable on only 1GB. The specs of my Vista laptop are Dell E1505 Vista Home Premium T7200 2.0GHz 2GB memory 256MB Geforce Go 7300 80GB 7200rpm SATA
  6. The Sabres are Gods. Game 5 was one of the most amazing I've ever seen. I almost cried when Drury scored. As I type this now the Rangers are getting schooled 4-2. GOOO SABRES!!!!!!
  7. Yea, my upload was non-existent for a whole day. It wouldnt even run the upload test. But its seems as if now i'm back to putting along at a massive 350Kbps, but i was always overcap with adelphia. :::.. 8. Well folks they finally decided to transfer the Buffalo area over to the Roadrunner networks. It took almost 1 year to complete. I lost internet all Sunday and it was really slow monday but everything seems to be back to normal. I not exactly sure what package i'm on so I dont know if this is good or not. On adelphia I had 4000/384 but roadrunner claims that their standard service is 5000/384. So if my service is indeed 5000Kbps download there is some room for improvement. The upload is down about 50Kbps from what I used to have with Adelphia (~430 to 375) but I was always over cap. Lets just hope I'll see some of those speed upgrades that other people in New York are receiving. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 3763 Kbps about 3.8 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Download Speed is:: 459 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/05/01 - 12:55pm Bottom Line:: 66X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 2.23 sec Tested from a 5983 kB file and took 13.026 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 80.22 % of your hosts average (rr.com) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-97GVKZEJT User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.0.04506) [!]
  9. Yea i'm sure there's a lot of people complaining about that. If i'm lucky i can get 3200-3400 down. I dont mind it that much but it would be nice if it were faster
  10. I'm still waiting for TW to switch me over to their service from adelphia. Were coming up on almost a year and still no official switch. I live near Buffalo, NY and pay $60 bucks for crappy 4000/384. It pains me to look at every else on TW getting such high speeds
  11. It works with a bunch of different routers. Although it may not be the easiest way i think its more practical than trying to use a strainer as a makeshift satillite. I'm just trying to picture myself sitting down in a wi-fi hotspot taking out that thing as everyone else stares.
  12. Thats ok, but the easiest way to boost signal and speed is to get hacked firmware for your router. I have a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT firmware on it and I cant go anywhere in my house without having full signal strength.
  13. Hello I recently found an old compaq Armada in my basement that actually worked perfectly fine. I loaded XP on there and everything seemed to e working fine but it does seem to be geting pretty hot and the fan never goes on. I know the fan works because it spins on startup. I was wondering if there is a program that i could use to manually control the fan speed. I allready tried speedfan but it wont let me change fan speed. It dosent even show up in the list of fans. Any other software out there for this purpose. I searched google allready but couldnt come up with anything good. Thanks a l ot
  14. I'm still on road runners 4/384 package Where do you live?
  15. yea it its that tv, just the 27" inch version. He has Time Warner cable so there is no cable box. I was looking on the web and some people were saying that you could use a RF modular with audio out to do it but i dont see how that would would. I guess i'll just tell him to find a cheap vcr with audio out. When he first told me this i was amazed that they still made tv's with out audio outputs.
  16. Hello, a friend of mine recently bought a new sony tv. Only problem is that the tv dosent have an audio output on the back so there is no way to hook the tv audio to his surround sound receiver. Now, is the any other way, other than going through a vcr, to hook up the tv audio to the receiver so he can get surround sound while watching tv. Any suggestion would help a lot. thanks
  17. I have that exact same firmware on my linksys router. Its way better than the stock one. I have WPA Pre-Shared Key on my wireless setup but thats only because thats the highest level of security my notebook card accepts. I believe WPA2 is the best out of all of those if you can use it.
  18. i had this problem a while ago. Unfortunatly MAC filters and WEP can be broken without too much skill. So definitly for with WPA or WPA2 if you have it. I also got Mcafee's Wireless Security program which provides hardware and software security. It rotates your security key as often as you like and provides a bunch of other security features. After that i've had no problems.
  19. $47 i think is pretty cheap for those. I pay 59.99 for the standard 4/384 package from adelphia. I pay more than normal because of a business account. Although in my area they claim my standard package is 7/384.
  20. How much does that cost? I know adelphia had their extreame package with 16/2 and that was supopose to be $60
  21. The new computer i'm build has an asus motherboard that supports up to 8gb of ram. Although i dont think that any game or even Windows will utilixe the full 8.
  22. 256 is fine for word processing and powerpoints. The internet is kinda slow when you try to multitask. As long as i am only running 1 program at a time i'm usually ok.
  23. Well i dont have fios in my area now and i have talked to a few verizon people all who said it could be years before they finally expand to my area. Although i was looking on rr's website for the business accounts, which is what i have now for adelplia so my speed might be alittle higher anyway depending on what package i have. But thats if they carry over the business account.
  24. You guys better sit down for this one. I have a massive 256MB for the old dell 8200. She struggles to run even the easiest of programs. Luckily i do have a new computer that i just built with 2GB, so when i'm done with that good bye 256MB.
