  1. Btw i forgot to say that above tweaks probl will not help your online gaming much cos they using UDP and not TCP. But it could be nice if you would get a faster upload against testmy.net. For the games, i refer to my prewious post about rate and cl_maxpackets, also use snaps at 20. VanBuren
  2. As i understand you got win XP now RTB, try changing these values DefaultReceiveWindow - The number of receive bytes that AFD buffers on a connection before imposing flow control. For some applications, a larger value here gives slightly better performance at the expense of increased resource utilization. Value Type: REG_DWORD Default: 4096/8192/8192 2. DefaultSendWindow - This is similar to DefaultReceiveWindow, but for the send side of connections. Value Type: REG_DWORD Default: 4096/8192/8192 The thing you already changed with TCP optimizer is 32. TcpWindowSize - This parameter determines the maximum TCP receive window size offered by the system. The receive window specifies the number of bytes a sender may transmit without receiving an acknowledgment. In general, larger receive windows will improve performance over high (delay * bandwidth ) networks. For highest efficiency, the receive window should be an even multiple of the TCP Maximum Segment Size (MSS). Value Type: REG_DWORD
  3. Another fix for lag spikes is to use pb_sleep 500 if you play on PB servers. bring down console hit enter once then type /pb_sleep 500 and hit enter. Try this tweaktest, disable your firewall during test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks and post the result adress (URL) here so i can see it. VanBuren
  4. Rawdiz, no offence but i think i aswered all your questions. If you want to know more about tweaking and using diffrent tools i suggest you read the programs help files. VanBuren
  5. Not sure what you mean by that Cablenut, Dr TCP, TCP optimizer is tools to change some of your windows registry settings. You have already done that! You wont have anymore use for cablenut program, cos your connection is already set optimal for your connection with Dr TCP. Leave these programs installed, they dont take much hard disk space and wont harm your system. VanBuren
  6. Dern i forgot to add this to my post The rate you setup in your q3config.cfg should not be faster then around 50% of your advertised uploadspeed. if you have 256 Kbps up maximal = 256/8= 32 KB/s = 32000 byte/s The rate in almost all games is set in byte/s. 32000 x 50% = 16000 your rate should be set to 16000 in this case. Why only 50%? as you said your dad using the connection too and, all connections "peak out" when its gettin close to the top speed. Thats not what you want for a good ping and smooth game. VanBuren
  7. Np But im not sure yet if i did help him hehe VanBuren
  8. Yea thats why i said its probl not a "normal". But thats not important here, the thing thats important is that you have MTU detection enabled and that your RWIN is multiple with your MSS. With these settings you have now all is fine and you wont get any faster speed against testmy.net. VanBuren
  9. I cant c that from here. But i dont think its "normal" cos the tweaktester recommend you to use a MTU of 1500. Anyway dont worry, your MTU is correct cos you have MTU discovery enabled. VanBuren
  10. I used to play quake 3 too, a tip i can give you is keep your cl_maxpacket low, try 20 max 30. that helps me if i play on a laggy server. And use as high rate as possible. If you check the servers info you will see sv_maxrate, some admins set this low (5000 to 10000) to allow 56k players to play aswell, but some using real high (20000-40000) for those servers u will need a dern good connection and low ping. Hope this will help But maby the problem is deeper then that, your ping stabillity seems bad, maby it was just a temporary thing when Cable pinged your IP nr, maby you was downloading i dunno. you can also check ping stabillity here http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks Good luck !!! 11. RWIN changes didnt effect speed, that means you wont get any faster against testmy.net testserver. I would leave these settings you got, as they are now. You can change back RWIN to 7260 if you want but the value u got now will help your download speed from servers with high ping. VanBuren
  12. Rawdiz 1. open DrTCP, go to the box where you see this value 7260, use delete and erase it, then type 11616 in same box. 2. Go to the box MTU and erase it if its any value in that, dont add anything in that box, leave it blank. 3. click save, click exit, reboot your pc. VanBuren
  13. Rawdiz is your ISP advertised maximal download speed 256 kbps? If so you almost get top speed at these test you posted. Your current RWIN is multible with your MSS, but you can try to change your RWIN even higher to 11616. Dont change anything else, the tweak tester result recommend you to change MTU to 1500, thats wrong!!! MTU detection is enabled. VanBuren
  14. Tnx Been kinda busy lately, but now i got more time to spend here hehe Rawdiz run this tweaktest and when you see result, copy the adress (URL) and paste it here so i can see your result. http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks VanBuren
  15. http://www.testmy.net/forumz/viewtopic.php?t=99 good luck
  16. Since i dont know your OS zakk, i should guess its a win 95 or 98 cos by defult the RWIN cant be set higher then 65535 I agree with you lorne, try using Microsoft Windows 9x Vtcp.386 Update go here https://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php Good luck
  17. One time i made a tweakguide how to calculate your RWIN, dunno if it still here, you can look in old post perhaps. Well anyways, i think your MTU is set correct to 1492, probl you got MTU detection enabled. I suggest you to use a RWIN that is multible with your MSS, in your case i would use 255552. good luck
  18. Lemme guess your connection is below 768 kbps downloadspeed? I tweaked alot and helped many friends set up their connections, below you can see why some need to tweak and some not. Defult settings Win 98 defult Rwin is 8192 Win ME defult Rwin is if i remember it right 16000 sumthing win xp defult Rwin is 17520 8192 works for LAN with a 0 ms ping, and it works for dial up. 16000 works good up to 512 kbps download on cable and dsl. 17520 works good up to 768 kbps download on cable and dsl. Tweaked settings all connections with a download speed above 768 kbps with any OS. Play with this Rwin calculator and you will find out how Rwin, MSS and latency affect bandwith. http://www.dslnuts.com/bitsbytes.shtml Good luck
  19. LoL RTB tnx, i didnt know hope you see this 1 VanBuren
  20. RTB your right, somehow i got a bottleneck on my way to testmy.net, im glad you can use your bandwith so far away. Your ISP must have good peering here is a trace I test aginst dslreports speedtest aswell i seem to have better speed on them. http://www.dslreports.com/archive/bredbandsbolaget.se VanBuren

i hit the 5 Mbps overseas you can verify score by looking at this link http://www.dslreports.com/archive/bredbandsbolaget.se VanBuren
  22. Read the post we gave you before about tweaking. and forget to get 56kbps on that ping. I think we all tryed enough to help ya VanBuren
  23. Thats the problem RaWDiZ Reply From 69.56.184.110: bytes=32 time=188ms TTL=47 Reply From 69.56.184.110: bytes=32 time=186ms TTL=47 Reply From 69.56.184.110: bytes=32 time=186ms TTL=47 Reply From 69.56.184.110: bytes=32 time=170ms TTL=47 on that high ping you will never get 56 kbps you wanted to be able do download the small test in less then 55s, lets do some calculations here.... 386 KB / 55s = 7 kB/s 7 kB/s x 8 = 56kbps the 8 stands for 8 bit on 1 Byte (no further explenation) I remember the days when i had 56k, to get full bandwith your ping should not be more then 100 - 120 ms to the testserver. VanBuren
  24. I dont think the problem is in your computer anymore, the problem probl is your ISP. Go to start-run type command and hit enter type ping www.testmy.net and hit enter try this aswell tracert www.testmy.net Post a reply what your latency is VanBuren
