1. well, the problem is that i cant really get the car until i learn how to drive manual (my dad isn't really wanting me to get a manual car...but i found a 02 type-s for 13.5k with 39k miles...very good deal imo...i just gotta somehow learn stick so i can show my dad tht i can drive it.

but yeah, i think i'll try the rent-a-car method :)

i have a pretty good idea on how to work manual..i've driven a big uhaul truck b4 (when i was around 11 or 12)...i dont think i had any idea what i was doing, but i rmr i managed to get it to accelerate a bit...so...now that i do have somewhat of an idea on what to do...how hard could it be, rite? =)

the only thing i'm really worried about is actually getting into first...that, and blowing the engine (i guess racing games kinda led to this paranoia, lol).

  2. Does anyone know where I could learn to do so? I don't really know anyone who drives manual (and those that know how to don't have a manual car).

Does anyone know if car dealerships will teach you? Say i go to an Acura dealership and ask them if they'll teach me manual transmission on the Acura RSX Type-S (the car i'm currently looking to get). Think they'll teach me?

Anyone know of any other places at where i could learn to drive stick?

  3. definately Sygate.

To me, ZoneAlarm is like a firewall for dummies type of deal. Yes, its got awesome protection, but it notifies u about every little damned thing.

Sygate on the other hand (been using it for a looong time) uses barely any resources and doesnt pop up a screen for every connection blocked and it does just as good of a job if not better than ZoneAlarm

Edit: apparently, symantec acquired Sygate and discontinued sygate personal firewall. thats LAME!!!!! damn you symantec!!!!!!

  4. So far, i'm really liking IE7 (as opposed to IE6)

However, i HATE the placement of the back/forward and address bar...i wish there was a way for it to go under the file/edit/view/favs/tools/help toolbar.

Also, when u open a new tab, its not exactly the fastest or smoothest, but it gets the job done.

Some sites still dont work with it, but its all good.

I was surprised that Google Toolbar Beta 4 works with IE7

all in all, i'd say ie7 is pretty good. while i still think firefox is still years ahead of ie7, i think microsoft may just be able to gain back part of that large amount of users that switched from IE to something else.

  5. I am looking for a new notebook for home, and travel use. I already use my Inspiron 6000 for work. I posted some specs of a dell notebook here a few days ago, but decided against it. So i am still currently looking for the right notebook. I don't really use my notebooks for gaming or video editing so the best graphics card is not really needed. I would mainly just use it to manage my dedicated boxes via Putty, web surfing, and moderate music, and movie watching. Whatever it is i finally get i will set it up as a dual boot for windows XP, and Debian Linux. If anyone has some good deals or links on notebooks they want to share please do.

I am trying to keep it at or around $1,000

  6. they all three do the same basic thing, a matter of fact alienware takes the sager notebooks, just puts a different shell on it, sells them way overpriced and to top it off gives worse costomer support than sager. So i would really like to kno how voodoo and Sager are bad.

my guess? "because they dont have media center" :haha:

  7. so as i said in my first post, is the Dell XPS M170 with all the upgardable specs available is it worth the $4500??

4500 is way too much. Unless you wanna wait for a 35% off coupon or something...

i'd go with the sager 5720...more bang for the buck.
