The tracert looks pretty clean so Comcast is not the issue... What type of router are you using?

802.11B is also fine.. you are going to be pushing the limits of the throughput but you should still have better speeds than what you are seeing.

To post the tracert right click and select mark.. Then highlight the area and then press enter.

Power cycle means unplug the device for 1 - 2 minutes.

Once you post the tracert we will know if you need to call Comcast.

No it is not the problem..  The Intel 2200 B/G is a 802.11 G compatable card. So you are set there.  If you are using a 802.11 G router then you have more than enough bandwidth to support Comcast's speeds and should be getting about 75-80% of wired speed.  The first think that I would do would be to power cycle the router.   Next how many other wireless networks are in your area?   If there are a ton then you are going to want to move your network to a different channel to prevent interference.  Lastly download TCP optimizer, search google for it, and move the top bar to 10000Kbps on the bottom right click Optimial and where the drop box is for the adaptor select the wireless one.

Also while you are at it could you post a tracert to testmy.net?  Start -> Run -> type cmd press enter -> type tracert testmy.net

As many of you know, or have read about, I have had issues with my Dell Inspiron 8600 for quite some time.  Well it is all over.  The machine has been exchanged for a new Dell Latitude D830.  I know that I bashed Dell over the quality of the Inspiron and the poor support.  Since being contacted by a Dell Represenative about my posts I have seen a complete 180* turn around.  I now have a 'personal' contact at Dell who is willing to go out of his way to make sure that my system lives up to my/Dell's expections.

So what did I get exactly? 

I decided to go with a Dell Latitude D830 which was released in May.  It is based on the latest Centrino chipset, GM965, which is code named Santa Rosa.  Here are the Specs of the system:

Overall I am extremely happy with the system.  I elected to go with Windows XP Professional instead of Vista.  The build quality is a huge upgrade from the Inspiron.  It is solid, professional looking, and fairly light weight.  Seeing how this is a buisness laptop it is not a graphic performer.  That being said I am able to watch Quicktime HD moves at the 1080i setting without any lagging.  Something that I was not able to do before. 

The system is also extremely quick!  I didn't think that dual core would make that much of a difference.  Well if you are considering making the move to a dual core system I would highly recommend it!  The speed increase is unreal.  No more slowdowns while the virus scans are running, being able to Alt+Tab at any time, and having the extra little boost when launching apps.

I have not had any rendering issues with the browser.. just slower than normal.. So far I love it.. I don't know why.. but I do

I have noticed one issue with a host on the same network..  If you use the host file for DNS resolution.. about 80% of the time it fails and requires a refresh a few times before it is found..

That looks pretty understandable.. It needs a little formatting work.. but I get the idea.

I render much faster the firefox. maybe having a new core 2 has something to do with it. Also remember its just a beta.

O no doubt it is a beta.. I am not expecting the world from it.. but it is pretty nice I will give it that.  Not only that but the text is sooooo much sharper..

see I am rendering slower then ff.. and there is no freaking spell check!

I am on it right now.. it lags a little bit.. but I do kinda like it.. I guess it is time to start customizing

Might want to power cycle the modem... Unplug the modem fir 3-5 minutes..  Tis should force the modem to request the latest configuration information..  So give that a shot and let us know

I am starting to wonder what is going on here.. It seems like you may be pulling cached results from the server some how.. From your test history you have only had about 5 high tests..

UDP is stateless..  Meaning that the traffic is just sent out and forgot about.  There is no error checking or ack/nak responces about the packets sent.  Therefore I doubt there is anything that can be done..

It is not the testmy servers...  The overall bandwidth available to these servers are in the 100s of Gbps.  As they are homed with just about every backbone providor in the US and europe.  The other issue is that there is no router, other what is at the core of the internet, that an switch and aggerate 800mb of traffic accross 8 seperate connections all at one time..  The overhead would be counter productive to split traffic from one site/server onto 8 connections.

I was able to track down what packages that huntel offers..  It seems that they only offer a 2 meg package as part of their "extreme" service.  I would take a look at the Guides section at the Tcp help that Van Buren wrote.

There is really, at this point in time, to get a dedicated line for personal use.  The huge ISPs can offer 8.5x what you can get from your telco.  If you want to host something, with a dedicated IP, you might want to look into a business class line from you cable company.  Most of those lines carry some type of TOS that applies to the speed you can get on the line. 

Wow that really suck the big one...  Were you encrypting your torrent traffic?  I really didnt think Comcast was watching traffic..

What type of router are you running the fiber through?  800mbps throughput isnt bad..

I would think that burning them onto and audio disk the ripping that should work..  otherwise how would all of the older cd players be able to read the DRM the Apple has encoded the songs with?

Did you install the Nic drivers again?  Also by chance have you rin windows update since you have re-installed?  I have had computers do simular things because they are downloading the update they need from windows update.

That is pretty damn interesting..
