  1. Yeah, I don't know about other types of forums, I only go to various Halo forums, one trombone forum, and this one. Out of all of them, this is the best.
  2. My classes for this year: - Algebra 2 (it's the 'normal' math class, I was one year ahead in 8th grade, so I should be in Trig/Pre-cal, but I did pretty much none of my homework in Algebra 1 in 8th grade still got low-mid 80's on report cards, the teacher said I didn't have the "work ethic" to move on, so I'm in the 'normal class now) - AP English 11 (11th grade) - Chemistry (my choice ) - Computer Engineering 1 (I have to take Comp. Engineering 1 to get to Networking, which is Comp. Engineering 2. Both Comp. Engineering classes consume 2 class periods a day) - Band (BAND GEEKS UNITE!!) - German 3 I have too much free time........
  3. Wait, so they're not capping you? If you're on the 8/768 package, they're supposed to be capping you at 8/768, but if you're getting 10+ Mbps, more power to you!
  4. I assume you're on the 6/384 package, right? If so, that speed is great.
  5. "But our connection was so bad that even the modem got frustrated and self-destructed! I guess we'll have to upgrade to FIOS!"
  6. Dang, so that's >10 Mbps without the powerboost, daaaaang! Nice!
  7. Yeah, make the Recieve and Send window values HUGE so you get all kinds of packet loss.
  8. .... and offer the extra $5/month like you have been, after doing both of those at the same time, who could resist (although my parents are also stubborn, I want to switch to AT&T and get the Elite 6/608 package. It's $27.99/month for the first year, which is $2.00/month less than we're paying now, and it's $39.99/month after that, and I offered to pay the extra $10.00/month, but NOOOOOOOOOO.) I guess we're in the same boat, then......
  9. You might want to tell him that, then. He might or might not care.
  10. I was about to suggest that...
  11. cholla, that's because it is a speakeasy speed test. Same servers and everything, just with a new look and ping/distance meter. Aha! Now this is more like it: :::::::::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..::::::::::::::::: Download Connection is:: 2965 Kbps about 2.97 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 362 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 254 Kbps about 0.25 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Upload Speed is:: 31 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/08/05 - 10:57am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-9AMLF8DW1 U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-EXYPD9CJT User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6 and ping
  12. Say, does anyone know of a software ping throttler? I WANT ONE.
  13. Wow, that's nice, looks cool, pretty accurate too. Just because I'm bored, I'm going to test on all the servers and post the results. Hmm, I just noticed that if I turn off my firewall my ping goes down by an average of about 15ms to the San Fransisco server (ran a lot of tests with it on and off to make sure), but when I turn off my firewall my speed goes down by at least 13 Kbps. Upload stays the same. Turn firewall off = -15ms ping and -13 Kbps. Decisions, decisions...... I'll test with my firewall off, probably the most accurate results. In order of distance from me starting with farthest: EDIT: AAGGGHHHH!!! I can't get an accurate upload test to testmy.net right now. I don't know why, I did several tests and got the same thing every time, then I went to back to speakeasy and it was normal again. :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 2982 Kbps about 2.98 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 364 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 144 Kbps about 0.14 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Upload Speed is:: 18 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/08/05 - 8:13am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-FZML8DGSY U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-2Z9T43OBS User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6 [!]
  14. Yeah, I think we're all dorks at least to some extent. I mean, come on, we're regulars on a broadband forum.
  15. I dunno, the ping throttle looks like a pretty fun tool to mess with.... It might make a little difference, but $279 worth of difference, heck no.
  16. There is no "given value" of infinity. ∞ x ∞ = ∞, therefore ∞ x ∞ infinity times still = ∞. Either way, testmy.net is that much% awesome.
  17. That's the symbol for infinity. That's still infinity...
  18. Well, in the research I did for my database topic, I found only two speed packages on the RR website, which were 5/384 and 8/512, but the RR website was pretty vague, and I couldn't see the pricing info (which could have included more packages). You may have 5/384, you should call and ask. If you have 5/384 you're getting ripped off.
  19. Wait, the site? Awesome! I thought you were just going to update the first post! Thanks, you're the coolest.
  20. Nah that's a good upload for the package you're on, and I'd even venture far enough to say that's a very good upload in general. Especally compared to mine. Speakeasy speed test: Last Result: Download Speed: 2889 kbps (361.1 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 242 kbps (30.3 KB/sec transfer rate) Can't do a testmy.net speed test right now because of my firewall. My mom won't let me turn it off, gotta wait until she's not home.....
  21. Well I think testmy.net is ∞% awesome. Beat that.
