  1. You can only use DDR400, unless you upgrade your motherboard.  With Vista, you will notice a difference just by adding another gig, to give you 2gig.  Or you could add more..

Are you using the ram in Dual Channel(if your board supports it)?  Do you have 1 - 1gig stick, or are you using dual channel (2x512)?  If you are using a single chip, you would notice an increase in performance by using dual channel as opposed to single channel.  Most DDR400 boards can handle up to 4 gigs, so you can run 2 dual channel sets (2x1024/2x1024).  If you have 2x512 already, you can add another 2x512 set, or even a 2x1024(some boards say to use the same size memory sticks if populating all, including mine, but I've used 2x512 + 2x1024, and it worked fine).

Most important thing with the memory, as far as being compatable with the existing ram, is the speed(ddr333/400/etc) and the timing(CL2/2.5/3.0).  Most likely you have CL3 memory...You could get a slight performance increase with CL2 memory, but if you do not play games, or do anything truly intensive, you wouldn't notice the difference.

    # 1 GB PC3200 400 MHz DDR RAM (4 GB max.) That is the RAM that is currently in my computer. So what would you guys recommend I use to get the best performance boost. TY very much for the help btw guys.
  2. I have been pondering upgrading my comp for a while now, just never have got around to doing it. I don't really do much gaming on my comp(I do pretty muchly all my gaming on my 360). The main thing I am trying to do is just increase the performance a bit. I figured the easiest way to do this would be to upgrade the RAM. The RAM in my comp is only DDR-400 and I only have 1GB. This was fine whenever I was running XP. Now that I am running Vista I figure I can get a pretty good performance boost from having bigger and faster RAM because of it's new cache techniques. Now here is the question I face. #1 I am not really sure which RAM I should go with. Also is it ok if I mix it in with my DDR-400 or do I need to take the DDR-400 and replace it with another DDR2.

Here are the exact specs on my comp: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?InvtId=A1520N&cm_mmc=Froogle-_-DesktopComputers-_-AMDAthlon/SempronComputers-_-A1520N

  3. OLED will last forever. Got a IPOD, it has a OLED screen.

the problem was they couldn't make them big enough.

But that is fixed, a Hitachi/samsung guy showed is a 50in OLED SED TV and it was fucken beautiful. WQXGA display  (in case you don't know thats 2560

  4. that doesnt really work too well.

OLED is the way too go Twice the res. of the current stuff.

Last I heard on OLED(might have changed) was that they were unable to make them last long enough. Of course they may have fixed that problem by now. If you have any updates I would love to hear em. [nerdly]

  5. I like rear projection HDTVs actually they look awsome i know my brother has one and so does my sister in theater room in there house.    my brother buys nothing but the best.  hell his wiring for his theater system cost over 10,000 dollars.  his surround sound is powered by oknyo and his speakers are of course nothing but the best Bose.  7.1 surround alot better then the movie theaters from what i have noticed.

eek...Bose? What I have heard about them is they are WAY overpriced. You can get better quality of about 1/2 to a 1/4 of the price. www.avsforum.com has lots of post on this that goes into detail why you would not want to use Bose.

Edit: Looks like dlewis beat me to it lol.

  6. Here are the top LCD brans IMO: Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp(Make sure it is an Aquos)

The picture of them are absolutely outstanding. I usually lean toward Samsung although they are all about the same. I can vouch that you wont see any ghosting on the LCD's anymore. I game on mine all the time and I have never seen a single ghosting. Plasmas get a little better picture than LCD's(Darker Blacks mainly) they are still somewhat susceptible to burn-in. If you break them in properly though the burn-in should not be an issue. Although it is noteworthy that an LCD uses less electricity and has a longer life span than the Plasmas. The rear projections get a great picture as well. The only downside to them is you haft to change out the bulb every 3-5 years. Also they are much more bulky. As far as the lower end brand in LCD's go I would stick with Vizio, Westinghouse, and Olevia. I have heard good reviews on those three. More on Vizio and Westinghouse than Olevia.

Also as dlewis stated I believe there is a new technology coming out this year. Odds are it will be pretty pricy for a while though. It could cause a drop in price in the other technologys though.

  7. I'm afraid this won't help you be enthused to much but this was takin during peak time and during moderate rainfall so taking that into account I guess it isnt to bad. Also my pings stay under 750 aside from an occasional server sputter and thas jusy one ping in a string of 20.

Arg...I didn't ever think I would say this...But I would kill for those ping times.

    Ping statistics for 216.109.112.135:

        Packets: Sent = 10, Received = 10, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

        Minimum = 1163ms, Maximum = 1708ms, Average = 1338ms

  8. So any ideas on an antenae. Say from radio shack. Or any local store? I would be able to take it back, and also be able to get it quick.  :grin2:

You probably wouldn't get a very good one at radioshack.(Could be wrong, but I wouldn't think you would) Your best bet would be to go here --- http://wilsoncellular.com/Dealer.php and see if there is a dealer in your area. They sell every piece of equipment you could possibly need.

  9. Well according to some info grandpa had me try, it appears to be a signal issue probably. But I have upped the speed considerably, not stable as of yet though. Which is why it appaears to be signal.

I have had as high as 1200/300 So I am on the right track at least.

Here is the speed with that test coknuck.

Overall Average Speed is approximatly 127 KB/sec or 1 Mbps

That is more like it. A little low on the upload side, but that will probably get better once you get an antenna set up.

  10. www.3gstore.com will give you 15 days to try it out. If it doesn't help send it back.(ofcourse you will be out shipping still). I am guessing you wouldn't haft to send it back though. Or you can go to www.wilsoncellular.com and see if they have a dealer in your area.

  11. There is a way to check it, but since I don't have one yet I haven't had time to tinker and figure it out. I am sure the guys at these forums --> www.evdoforums.com could tell you. From the looks of your speed though I would be willing to bet it is just a matter of your signal is not high enough. Those forums also sell antennas so you should be able to get fixed up there.

  12. How is your signal? If you don't have just have an "ok" signal then that could be causing your slower speeds. If this is the case a simple antenna that will hook up to the card will probably get you up to about 1-1.2mb. Your speeds are not normal though. EVDO is usually 1mb+.

  13. sweet, i'll donate them to needy children who's parents dont allow candy. (poor souls)

and i'll take money from your bank account for therapy for me and shug if you dont come back

O there is no way the money in my bank account could come anywhere near close enough to pay for the therapy you guys are going to need. It would take millions. Although I don't think it is possible to really get over a loss so great...

  14. but remember, if you get caught during this high stakes extraction you can not say anything except your name rank and serial number, and we will deny all knowledge of your mission  :smile2:

If I don't return I just want you to know that......Shug doesn't really kick ass like his sig says. Also I want you to have the bag of Jolly Ranchers(whats left of them) on my desk.
