You scores are ok but not stellar.

In my experience, the screaming ONT issue is caused by not disconnecting the PPPoE session properly (using the disconnect button on the router).

802.1x authentication allows you to use multiple layers of security authentication.

Actually, I didn't really mean to single you out.

Actually, if he's on the 5/2 plan, he's missing some upstream and downstream bandwidth. I'm not really sure why some people think it's funny or ok that someone with a high speed fiber connection has no right to complain about sub par performance.
Fiber is forcing the cable and dsl providers to increase the speeds of their offerings. In fact, many of the cable and dsl providers have plans that are faster than the FIOS 5/2 plan.

Ah, ok.

I would have ordered the 760 (2GHz, 2MB Cache, 533MHz FSB) processor.

I'm good but I might be on a different network since I moved to the static plan.

I am trying to run a small game server Call of Duty United Offensive. The game requires port 28960 to be open and I am having a hard to opening this port. Verizon doesnt block this port do they?
Are you using the D-Link router and do you have experience doing port forwarding?

Ghost 9 is great.
-
Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS 4 is rock solid. SuSE Pro 9.3 is also very solid. I prefer SuSE.
-
I run a lot of operating systems. XP Pro is my preference because of it's networking, driver suport, etc.

The static business plan is $99 per month with a one year commitment.

We aren't using all five adresses at the moment.

I converted my residential FIOS plan to the static ip address(s) business plan. It's still the 15/2 speed, but I have five static ip addresses to play with, I'm no longer using the D-Link router, and I am free of the PPPoE implementation. If anyone is considering the same, let me know if you have questions.

And of course they offered this 4 months after I cancelled my connection. They had to do something. Those 128 and 256k uploads they offered sucked.

Are you using the Verizon supplied D-Link router? You're other post indicated you might not be.

Well I thought I would post about surewest FIOS that just got finished installed at my house here cause it seems like the best place..
I got my 10Mbit/10Mbit FIOS Internet/TV/Phone service installed today. I got the whole package with TV/Internet/Phone for about $115 per month and $56 for the first 6 months as a promotion. Activation and Install charges were free. I live in Sacramento, California and am looking forward to take advantage of this awsome service.
Can you give us more details? I'd like to know if Surewest is reselling Verizon FIOS. I'd also like to know more about the channel lineup you got. That's a hell of a deal.

Correct.

Which Xbox Live game are you talking about?
-
You can do this very easily.

Now what HaloBox said is not true, PPPoE is more secure because it requires a user name and password to use the internet where as DHCP does not required to have a username and password.
I said it was insecure because I don't like my ID and password going across the wire unencrypted.
PPPoE and DHCP concern.

Nope. It's a rare event and easily fixed.
