  1. Cool Stuff.... so much great information found on this site!!!!
  2. I am confused... it's getting easier to do that these days. I had posted a few days ago about my FIOS slowing down... I really don't notice anything speed or performance wise... it is just the speed test tell me it is slower.
  3. 10/10... now that is insane. In a really cool way... but still insane!!
  4. I finally ended up calling on mine... never could get the website entry to work. I would just call every other week or so until I hit gold... Just keep trying.
  5. ]Major DITTO] CRE8OR You really need to have your Virus Protection up to date if you are going to start playing with P2P... there are a lot of people that setup files that are nothing more than virus factories. So be careful in that respect.
  6. AVG is great... used the free version for about six months and have purchased the full version. Works Great!!
  7. billybob... Bearshare is P2P software... just note there is a lot of advertisements with the free version. Overall... it is a pretty good program. But as mentioned before... it is not illegal.... just the music and/or software you choose to download. It will not hurt a thing... system or network wise.
  8. Welcome to the world of FIOS... Those are some nice speeds!!! Enjoy!!! :icon_salut:
  9. Just to satisfy my mind I called the FIOS customer support on Friday... pretty good experience. Not even close to comparing what I went through with Comcast. The only test they will really go by is their own which in infospeed.verizon.net. I spend about 30 minutes on the phone with them... they did some various testing and had me do some tests. The only one I have really tested against in the past few months has been here. I am still getting some weird readings. I checked this morning from work (here) and really got some weird readings... we are 10/10 and I was only showing about ~5.9m and about ~8.2m at speakeasy. A while back I was getting some weird reading at this site and starting testing without the progress bar and my results were back good... now it doesn't matter. So... I don't know what is up. Really can't noticed any slowdown... now it's just the mental thing knowing the speed test are showing slower speeds... Cheers, Ronnie
  10. Come on guys.... a two meg drop in speed is fairly significant. OK... maybe not at 15... but I had to check.
  11. Thanks HB... This one is really weird... ronnie
  12. Hey Gang... Anyone noticed a slow down in the DFW / Carrollton area?? I have dropped from around 15.8 download to around 13.7... my upload is about normal at 1.9. It really doesn't matter what time of day I have checked... it's all pretty consistent. Ideals / suggestions???
  13. Actually I traded in the wireless router I purchased from Verizon and had them send me the standard "free" issue. In the meantime I went out and purchased a D-Link DGL-4300. It works flawlessly... no difference whatsoever in the speeds... plus, all my wired PC's are now running gigabit ethernet... and it also has wireless. Cheers, Ronnie
  14. I know this is really elementary but do you have your settings right... incoming.verizon.net (POP3) outgoing.verizon.net (SMTP) If nothing else... go in and set it up again.
  15. This is a debate that can eat up a whole lot of server space... I am not sure there is any right or wrong. It is very tragic and everyone looses in this deal... except Teri... who, I am sure, is in a lot better place. Both my wife and myself have been very specific on our wishes of not being kept alive in that type of condition... and have it documented in living wills. My two cents....
  16. hmmmm I can't really see Verizon doing both... I guess we will see.
  17. Hey **eagle**... When you ran the speed test... did you run it with or without the progress bar??? Try it without the progress bar and see what speeds you are getting.
  18. Yeah... those guys do a great job. You cannot tell where they ran mine either. Ronnie
  19. billi... it is going to depend on the installers. I would say most of them will... however, talk to them when they get there and let them give you some options. You may be surprised what they come up with. One thing to note.... if you do it yourself you will cut about 1 2 hours out of the install time. Just a thought. Please let us know how the install goes. What package did you get??? Cheers, Ronnie
  20. Well girl... what all did you do?? Any hardware changes made??? Are you sure you are using the same drivers you had before?? I know this is frustrating!!!
  21. Yeah... I found it over there. It was posted by the anonymous Verizon Dude that keeps popping up every once in a while... That is cool stuff... can't wait for the DHCP.
  22. Thanks... have you compared the 15/2 settings to the 30/5 settings to see if there was any difference?? If not.. I did and really didn't notice any change... but then again, it was around 7:00pm last night so I am sure the server and net were pretty well loaded.
  23. jester... There is no telling what Comcast was doing... but it must have been something considering the cap on the 6meg package is 6.8m and you were clearly higher than that. Things that make you go hmmmmmm.
  24. HaloBox... Can you give us more specifics???
