  1. A switch is definitely the way to go.  I use a Netgear FR114P HW Firewall/Print server 4 port switch.  Figured the hardware firewall is a plus (I really don't like the software firewalls) and I can print to a single printer from any connected computer.  It's only $99.00.  Works very well, no performance degredation at all.

  2. It can't be 10 meg..  Honestly, Really.  I do networks for a living.  What test is he running?  Has to be some other factor that is shadowing the real result.  Keep looking further, there is more to know on this one!

    Thanks!

  3. OK, now that you all have said that I understand where I was confused.  I'm still going to re-peak it.  I know they don't like that, but the install was pretty marginal, and I have a Birdog meter and an OPI, so what the heck.  Everything else about the install was poor (no grounding, signal in low 50's  etc.), so I have no confidence that the peaking was done correctly.

Thanks again, you guys always make me think...that's good.

  4. I know the installer used the zipcode only to get pointing directions etc. The zipcode at our location covers miles and miles and miles. If I manually enter the lat / lon numbers and re-peak the ant, will I need DW to do anything on their end? I'm hoping I can adjust for best sig, adjust for highest ACP, and lock things down without any intervention needed on their part.

    Is that so?

    Thanks!

  5. Hello All. The company I work for uses a VPN client from Cisco (version 4.0.5). I use it with DSL, No problems other than the typical performance hit. I even used it through Verizon's 1X broadband wireless connection with no problems either. I will indeed have a talk with our IT group, but here is the problem I am having. When I run the VPN client app, it opens a screen with various company server locations around the world. I select the closest one (San Francisco bay), and hit enter. It then opens a login window with My employee ID, and a place to enter a random code generated by a card I have (from Secure Computing Corp). I do that, and it goes out to authenitcate with the server. It never connects. Looking at the log, I see it returning that the "packet size is larger than header". It thinks something is wrong, so it just keeps retrying. No need to answer what it is doing, I'll get that from the IT and Cisco folks. But has anyone here had a similar problem and solved it? Would save me alot of time.

    Thanks all!
