  1. about 40 minutes ago my upstream power lever was 44. now it is 55! does anyone know what would cause this big shift in numbers. i want it as low as it could get because i had disconnect problems in the past with the heating during the day.
  2. ratchet i wonder the same thing. my 5100 only pulls 1.5mb down on a supposed 4mb connection. i have read many threads where people have gotten a new cable modem and their speeds went up dramaticaly. i don't know if it has something to do with firmware or what.
  3. here is another log thanks for your time. i reset modem. 5. yes i am connected through a router. it is a d-link 604. the modem is a motorolla sb5100. i tried the connection straight from the modem to the computer and i basically got the same speed. maybe the modem needs a firmware upgrade.
  6. well i talked to an adelphia tech. he said i should see at least 2mb down on the plan i'm on. the tech said i could try a different modem and see if that helps. i also tested a couple of my neighbors connections and it turns out they get the same basic slow speeds. i smell something fishy in my area.

  8. yes i am connected to a router. i run the built in windows firewall and avast anti-virus. i did leave aim open and those im programs. i ran the traceroute and it came out with pings all under 100. i can't get it to copy and paste or i would paste it on here. it runs through adelpia net then the planet.com. i also have the latest router firmware and latest nic drivers. i will check those things. i am curently running on xp 64 bit trial. thanks for the help.
  9. i currently have adelphia as my provider. it is advertised up to 4mb down and 384 up. i only see about 1.3mb down and 384 up. i have cablenut now. i have the latest drivers for my nic. i have windows xp. i can't understand why i can't get any higher speeds. can someone give some advice or try to help me out. thanks.
  10. i just tweaked my friends wireless internet. his advertised speed is around 1.5mb down and 500 up. after i tweaked his connection he was able to get over 1.8mb down and 700 up. that is amazing what a program like cablenut can do for your connection. now if i could get it to tweak my cable internet like that i would be happy. i currently get 1.3mb down on my cable internet and about 400 up. my advertised speed is 4mb down. i wonder why i can't get anywhere near 4mb down? by the way my provider is adelphia. i am thinking about switching to this wireless internet since i don't get the speeds i am suppose to with adelphia. the wireless internet is reasonably priced at 45 dollars a month.
  11. yea i have tweaked and the speed tests never go above 1.5mb. however on p2p sites i can download over 400KB. just doesn't make any sense. on download.com and internet sites i can only get 1.5mb, but on the p2p networks is when i can download a lot faster.
  12. i have slow speeds on speedtests. i get about 1400Kb down. Now when i download on p2p sites i can get close to 4mb down. this doesn't make any sense. my advertised speed by the way is up to 4mb down. i just can't understand why all the speed tests show my speed to be 1400kb down. there is however one speed test which shows my speed as being 3.8mb down it is http://speedtest.oceanic.com/ however people have told me that site isn't accurate. maybe someone can figure this one out.
  13. can somebody tell me the validity of this test site. http://speedtest.oceanic.com/ i can get 3.8mb down on it. when i go to speakeasy i only get 1.4mb down thanks.
  14. on speed tests the most i get is about 180k or 1500 down. now i go to p2p sites and i can download over 400k. i can't figure out why i can't get that speed on speed tests. i should also mention my cable internet is advetised up to 4mb.
  15. oh my i used that website and connection speed dropped by about 800k. maybe i typed in a setting wrong i dunno. but i will definatly not use that guy's tweaks.
  16. it's advertised 4000/384 but i am only seeing about 1400/375 max also my os is xp
  17. i am using dr.tcp now and am wondering if maybe cablenut is better or what settings to use for any of those programs. thanks.
  18. my isp is adelphia. my advertised speed is 4mb down and 384 up. i get the upload speed but my download is only about 1400 down.
  19. i just wondered what the best one is. i have cable internet and can only manage to get about 1400 down. adelphia is now advertised up to 4mb down. thanks.
