  1. "There will never be a market where there's a computer in every home!" " Those stupid little Volkswagen cars will never sell here in America!" "What? You mean to tell me that someone's actually going to pay $1.00 for a small bottle of water?!!!" "Next you're going to tell me that everyone's going to be walking around with a telephone it their pocket!"
  2. Hey 24k...have you tried this site for your Cablenut settings? I looks at your connection a calculates the setting that you need automatically... http://www.j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php I found that this CSS imput gave me a faster connection than the one that comes with CableNut... Worth a try!
  3. Oh, something else I forgot to add... Mozilla is at least 10 times faster than IE....
  4. So, they're making another Crappy brower that will soon be (if not before) punched full of security holes for hackers to have a field day.... Other popular browsers have security flaws too: Mozilla and Firefox Vulnerabilities Identified Firefox flaw raises phishing fears (This is simply NOT TRUE) The holes that were found were fixed months ago.... I'm with the above stated...I'll stick with Mozilla for my browsing needs...WoW tabbed browsing...I"ve been using that now for years...LOL... The only thing I use IE for, is those stupid webpages that are designed around IE (Gateway Support)...other than that (an Windows Update), I don't bother...Yuk, suck....ect...
  5. 24Kbs, That means those strings don't work with your modem...I went through alot of modem strings before I found one that worked with mine that actually improved the "ping" of my ISP...you see I play online with my clan...so most of the tweaks I was really looking for was to improve that more than anything... Did you look and try any of these at this site I gave you before? This is where I got mine...(no speed limit capping) http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/ConnectionFAQ/ModemStrings.htm I was also wondering if you had more than one access number to connect to your ISP...I found that one of the two I have works better than the other...(for lower Ping)
  6. Cholla, the only thing about "all" that information you're giving is...What does it do?... What speed improvements have you seen? Upload, download...gaming ping? Before I apply any tweaks, I want to know what it does, or is supposed to do...(especially when it come to the registry)
  7. Yea, you have to reboot after registry changes for them to take effect.. This is starting to sound like it's your ISP... Do you have any choices on that for dialup? I live in a small town with 14,000 and we have 3 dialup choices...
  8. I guess I'll be the one to help you out here... Why? because I also suffer with 56k and have invested alot of time tweaking to get the most I can out of it...not easy...LOL Dude, am I reading this right? Are you going thru---> a PoP server? For Dial-up, this is really a "bad" thing... Also, do you have or can you enable MPPC stac compression? This helps tremendously when it comes to your dial-up speeds... I know...I'm stuck using dial-up as well, but your speed is half that of mine... What program are you using for "tweaking" your internet settings....or are you... If not, then post back and I'll see if I can help you get better speeds... To start with download CableNut...this alone increased my speed by 15%... http://www.cablenut.com/ Download this- CableNut Add On Package and this- CableNut v4.08 Make sure to read the FAQ section to answer you questions like...how to I put the setting in? Here's mine, and I'm 56k...(this is typical dial-up speeds using CableNut custom adjusted registry settings) :::.. Download Stats ..::: (v92 modem connected at 50.06kbs) Connection is:: 46 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Download Speed is:: 6 kB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Sun Mar 13 2005 19:27:46 GMT-0800 (Pacific Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 1X faster than 56K 1MB download in 170.67 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 25.84 % of your hosts average (cybertrails.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-U5S73GDCQ Also, for tweaking your modem settings go here---> http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/ConnectionFAQ/ConnectionFAQ.htm They have step by step instructions on how to adjust your modem hardware setting!
