  1. I found this DMZ thing on my router...but the description it has is this:

The DMZ hosting feature allows one local user to be exposed to the Internet for use of a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming or videoconferencing. DMZ hosting forwards all the ports at the same time to one PC. The Port Forwarding feature is more secure because it only opens the ports you want to have opened, while DMZ hosting opens all the ports of one computer, exposing the computer so the Internet can see it.

I don't really want to expose myself by opening up every port.  Isn't there a more secure way?

Also, do any of you guys have a Linksys WRT54G router and are connected to it via ethernet?  If so, what EXACTLY did you do to get your smileyface dude to be green?  No matter what i do, i always get "NAT Error"

It can depend on the tracker. I have the DI-604 Verizon gave me with FiOS and I have a green smiley with nothing done to the router. But as I am reading articals I might to get my upload over 40 kb/s.

Just forward ports 50000-60000 on your router (CHANGE THE PORT ON AZARUS TO 50000 or 60000)

  2. Basicly it trys to find the best Seeders and take u/l from them, but you should also upload as fast as possibal to, becuase then you'd be leeching.

As you see in my pic I have a good connection with Azarus, 300+ kb/s download  :-P

  3. Ya, my javaw is taking up 62K. But its still responsive. Try disableing all your Vista theme and stuff. Use the Windows XP silver theme (Thats what im using..no probkems here)

EDIT: this its only at 60K when I have Azarus open...when its closed its at 20K..

  5. That the percentage is not correct. My host only provides 3.0 mb connection but the info on the download results page says that the average for my host is above 4.mb. So really I am running a lot higher percent than it says.  I dont believe verizon even offers dsl above 3.0 d 876 u. yet. I could be totally wrong here and I am sure someone will let me know. But hey just my thoughts. Oh yeah why does it say my connection speed is 2829 Kbps when my modem tells me 3368?

lol, thats the type of modem you have not the speed. and ur advertised speeds are proably like 3/768

its also being compared with fios.

they needa seperate fios and dsl i think.

  9. Ok I got FiOS installed today (10/4) and these are the results from testmy.net then you'll see I test from the Santa Cruz server and I get full speed....am I really geting that speed? Or Testmy.net's speed...? If i'm geting this speed, any way I can optimize it to make it faster? I've allready installed CableNut PPPoE 15000/2000 Fiber Optic setting and that got my U/l faster on the Santa Cruz server. Thanks.

    TCP/Web100 Network Diagnostic Tool v5.3.3d

    click START to begin

    Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  Done

    running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 1.96Mb/s

    running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 15.21Mb/s

The slowest link in the end-to-end path is a 10 Mbps Ethernet subnet

    click START to re-test

But overall, its blazing fast, constent 1-20 ms. besides my dads problem with MSN crashing.
