That kind of connection is just for large buildings that have hundreds of people on the internet at the same time. Not one user. It's a complete waste of money for just one person.

AOL will slow down your direcway connection by about 200 kbps. Direcway is already slow enough without putting AOL into the mix.

That's weird. The same company charging two different prices for one product just because they put a different name on it. It's all just for your money. Don't buy from either of them. If you want computer stuff, get it from DELL.

I've got AOL 9.0 and i use dial-up with my AOL. normally i use satellite, but dial-up seems to work well for games. I have a problem though. My Internet Explorer won't work at all while I am using AOL. It works fine on all my other computers while I am on AOL, but those computers are too slow to run the games. Why won't IE work with AOL?

I don't know how much improvement could be made to the performance of my computer, but i did notice that after i got rid of that indexing thing, when i did a search for something i had done a search on earlier, i found a few extra things.

I watched the cpu usage thing. my cpu only went up to 6% usage when i clicked it and made it spaz out.

I think either direcway or microsoft has somehow degraded the performance of my firefox browser, I just downloaded some other browsers that didn't run on top of IE and they all got the same slow speeds that i was getting with firefox. IE is the only browser i've used so far that will get correct speeds. very strange

if i use a registry cleaner to get rid of firefox stuff, will that also undo the other registry changes i have made?

i think my sattelite and "tweak" settings are fine. it's just, i need to be able to completely remove firefox from my computer. i uninstalled and then reinstalled and everything about it was the same. same skin i had before, same settings, everything. so i think i kinda have the problem fixed if i can just get firefox fixed from whatever i did to it. If you talk to me enough you will find i am always fully of problems. Most of them being related to my internet. No satisfaction. Now on with what i needed help with. It seems that i have screwed up something in my computer and can't find what i did. I've done system restores and checked my registry settings and all that stuff. The problem is that I used to get speeds of around 124 KB/s down and 13 up. now i get about 60 down and 8 up. I use the cablenut program, and the was what first brought my speeds up to what they used to be. Then something happened. I have no clue what, and have done everything i can think of to try to find it. I contacted direcway, but of course they couldn't solve my problem. Their solution to everything seems to be power cycle the modem, check your connection, and make sure your proxy settings are correct. I use a DW6000. If someone could kinda hack into my computer and find out what's wrong, that would be awsome. I just don't know what to do and it's making me frustrated.

I'm using the GetRight download manager. I think i'll just try downloading a little bit at a time. I'll eventually get it. I emailed direcway again and told them in the email that I didn't want them to mention the FAP at all. When i got a response, the FAP was all they talked about. What would normally take me a little over an hour is taking days because of direcway's stupid fair access policy.

I had thought of asking someone to mail it to me on a CD but I didn't think anyone would actually be willing to do it. Since you are in Costa Rica i won't ask you to do that. I think my sister has DSL. I'll just ask her. Right now i've just been using a download manager so that I could download parts at a time. I hope something other than Direcway becomes available to me. I use the DW6000. I was trying to download the Linux operating system. It's over 500 MB which i know will put me over my FAP limit. The problem is when i am downloading something, whenever i get to around 60 MB, my speed will drop from 120KB/s to 2KB/s. I have contacted direcway and all they do is set and tell me about the FAP. I am sure that being subject to the FAP isn't going to cause them to drop my speed that low. This happens any time i try to download a big file. I don't know if it is a problem with my computer or the modem or what. I don't think it's my computer. It's a Dell 8400 that I just got a few weeks ago. This happened on my other computer too.
