  1. I can download a P2P AVI movie file, and at 60-70% volume to blows me out of the room......But when I convert the AVI file to VOB files to burn on a DVD to watch on the big screen......my audio levels drop so I have to play it at 100% and lean forward to catch all, except explosions.

I can not figure out why I am loosing audio levels, picture quality is great with no glitches, but the audio sucks!  It is digital so how could this happen......please help.  I use AVI2DVD software, DVD Shrink, Nero to burn.....could use some help here!

  2. It's on my list of things to do!  Right now I am backing up all of my "NEW" software and getting rid of umpteen copies of windows, service packs etc. Making ISO install files for upgrades and software verification without having to go get the install disks everytime I tweak something!

I WANT TO GET ALL OF THE WORK DONE BEFORE I START PLAYING GAMES ON THAT NEW CARD......Once bitten I will be up all night!

  3. I have not had time to test this yet, maybe the update thingy has to do with it being beta software...and we don't have the activation key code that unlocks the beta software......Microsoft charges $2,000 bucks or more for being a beta tester.  I think it's every quarter you get a book of all of Microsoft's beta software with some kind of code application tool for application builders.....anyway I have not tried this out yet..sorry not much help here.

  4. You already have the spyware in your computer, it is trying to hookup with the new installation...stay alive as it were.  Go to this website and at the bottom of the page use the removal tool.  Then try your installation again.

GET SOME GOOD SPYWARE/VIRUS SOFTWARE OR YOU WILL BE RIGHT BACK WHERE YOU STARTED IN NO TIME AT ALL.  My preference is the McAfee Security suite 7.0 or whatever is current, you get upgrades almost daily to stop all new virus's,spyware, spam etc. blocked.  It's worth the money for the security!

  5. OK provided you have done all of the expected things.....checked for viruses, spyware, keystroke monitors etc.....done the defragmentation of your hard drive AND registry.

You have done all of the above right?  Good!  Make sure you are using the latest Van Buren settings....Version 7 I believe....https://testmy.net/forum/t-1013  this should be the link you need to get there......try the DW6000 settings there.

Oh Yeah, use cablenut to delete all of your previous settings, before loading the new ones.

Reboot and check out your speeds......if you still are not happy, I have some settings, plus I have done some registry tweaks I can pass on......but before you try any of my settings....TRY VAN BURENS STUFF FIRST......if you still can't get what your after shoot him an e-mail......I am not trying to put you off, Vans settings work with allot of different systems.  Mine are pretty much customized for my machine, but have helped others so I do offer them.....

    Good Luck :D

  6. The DW6000 series modem gets is software program upgraded automatically from the NOC, as with any digital system a glitch or in your case maybe a  bad or or interupted upgrade burst that was corrupted may have had you in a  bad way (modem locked up) still waiting for the right instructions.......anyway a power down for a few minutes, then power up is like rebooting your system after a crash.......it goes and gets the instruction set again, if it is OK this time, then its speed back to normal.

P.S. Did you download and install the LCCU program by Dway...it helps too!

I have included it with this post in a zip file, just read the read-me file and do what it says...let me know if this improves things for you.....by the way my Sig strength is only 62 but I get these speeds....

  7. do that.....if Van Burens tweaks don't help.....I have a few you can try, they work well with my system.....BUT remember this Van Buren has been  making custom cablenut settings for a long time and is one of the best at it...so go with his stuff first....then use me as a last resort......also beware of over tweaking.....you know what they say about too much of a good thing!

You have done all the spyware, virus and system maintenance.....RIGHT?  Cleaned and de-fragmented your hard drive and registry???

If so we will need more information.  What OS are you using and at what rev??....modem type DW6000 right?  Are you connected directly to the modem with a RJ45 connector or are you using a USB port?  Have you been to Van Burens Cablenut settings??  You will need to get and run TCP Optimizer and the Cablnut program...follow the instructions that are included in the zip files.....

    Good Luck!

Hunt down Van Buren if you still need serious help (try the posted fixes first) and if he has time available he can get you going!

  9. Definitely do away with the USB connection....get a 10/100/1000 gig card they are cheap connect a RJ45 high speed cable the size you need, not some god awful long ass cord, I use a cat 6 (3') cable with gold connectors...yes it's overkill, but when your on satellite you do everything to get stable fast speeds.  Connect the other end directly to your modem.

The guy who installed my Dway system couldn't get my old 10/100 card to work so he sold me a usb Ethernet connector (all in one thingy) and it got me on line, but when I changed to a Ethernet card directly, my speeds went up!

  10. I never have the crashes I hear everyone else lament about....maybe it's my intensive maintenace schedule, I keep a lean clean machine......I have done other tests to verify my speeds are accurate, including a large download with elapsed time (to complete the download) to check it against....seems to be right on for me.. I clocked just under 6 min. for this download.
