  2. ya u can get it off gogle i got mine from a friend but i will not use it to tweak anything just as a caculator, now logicly 1500 is the max possible but when i decrease the mtu to 1500 or 1499 it loooses speed
  3. i science have changed my rwin and only my rwin to 11250 my custom forumla seting the mtu is 1516 i noticed a increase in .1 mbs :::.. 5. i am going to lok into cable nut but first im gona max tweak it witout cablenut then with
  6. ok so i changed my rwin to a multiple of 4 and saw no difference in speed, i then used my program to determine the largest possible mtu and it said 1516 was the largest supported so i changed it and i got this now :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 6111 Kbps about 6.1 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Download Speed is:: 746 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (main) Test Time:: Sun May 15 11:30:31 MDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 109X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.37 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 70.65 % faster than the average for host (Comcast.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-UWQABV308 and heres the new upload :::.. 9. lol ive seen real life tests of wireless internet tests 44mb+ so a line connection could easily double it
  10. sumthing wrong when ue advertised speed is 1mbs if u are paying more than $1 dollar a month i suggest changing ur isp imediatly
  11. RWIN" is a windows term and rmem is it's Linux equivalent -quote from dsl/broadband repots.com so i belive it would be the simillar for unix
  12. o wow i have no clue about that im not fammilar with unix but lemem see what i can find
  13. i honstly have never even used cable nut i can give it a shot but i have traditionaly set the mtu to 1499 the mss to 1460 rwin to 112500 ttl 128 auto discovermtu and blk hole off my co worker insisted on tweaking everything else for my svr and usercomp and have seen phenominal results
  14. Recently i came across information about the "inernet2" promising dvd's in seconds i work for a company called network architects we assist in building the "floor plan for internet 2" and the svrs that will one day power this net. i do not actualy help with this but one of my friend does he showed me how the net protocls, not the programs, the blueprints of the programs basicly there cfg's broke down here is the single most importanat thing that came out of it is this the internet is going to move so fast that the commit charge just to run it would be roughly the size of the entire internet right now if u could measure it sumhow and thats just to keep the lines warm rofl also he said the top end internet 2 isp's will make 100/1000 base internet look like a "war dialer, u remember those from the old days u could get internet signals through the sounds made from a phone spkr rofl " but in the proces of building all this new amazing speed they ran into problems, well sorta they figured out that the data would move so fast that data that is slowed in a bottelneck situation would almost be smashed down and sucked through rofl when they learned this they proly all went crazy and tested what would hapen when biger and biger packets were sent and they proly had fun 4 days in the end of all the mtu mss ttl etc and the new protocls tis tic tti ttd etc there was 1 thing 1 thing that didnt change the mss but it will soon i gauntree it 1460 was the seting what is even more amazing is the way rwin is caculated in the traditional fassion rwin is multiples of mss the way thye figured rwin is this The formula for finding your "ideal" RWIN, is to take your latency (average ping time in ms x 1.5), multiply that by your advertised (download) speed, and divide that by 8. example of mine 100ms x 1.5 -------150 150 x 6223 but well just say 6000 to prevent overload -------900000 900000 / 8 ----112500 <--------ahhahahhahahha u wouldent belive the size of the numbers of the rough estimates for the internet 2 i went right to my comp when i aquired this info and ran a speed test b4, changed seting restarted then ran a test after and saw actual overal increase i found a couple things out 1 when playing mp games pings were stable low, downloads were more continous"less up and down more up and steady" upload wasent dramaticaly boosted but 2 things did happen 1 ping related to upload was lowered 60 points 2 modem seems to handle more upload hitches alot beter than b4 "signaficate to me because i spend about 80% of the time i spend on my comp playing and hotsing mp games/tournaments" download was instantly boosted by about 350 kbs overall as well as less overhead bandwidth was needed by the line now literly when i click the internet explorer icon it thair in ms when p2p searchingdownloading more seeds/peers are found conections start extremly fast downlaoding songs is a joke sum ppl have told me that this is not the ideal way to find ur rwin because it does not benefit ur upload i reashearched this right away and found that windows xp and only xp,home pro etc will not use a rwin for upload that is determined unsutable for best performance instead it will configure it as if theres 2 rwins and will change the rwin related to upload to a windows default "what ever ur facory seting was" until u change it again or ur prog ques it to then it will do this again indefntily so when u set ur rwin to a multiple of mss u are geting a balanced value that windows will acept u gotaa think of it like this have u ever tried to disable page filing on xp even vitural memory and tried again and again and again and every time u press ctrl alt del its still paging files there is a way to completly disable it but have fun doing it and the answer is like this "simply because bill gates is a motherf"--sum red neck so when u look at it from outside the box like this u relaize ur upload tweaking is almost a waste of time"and is basicly the max ur modem will send" "one of the best ways to tweak ur upload is to buy a new strong expensive modem"-the bare truth One cheap getto way to tweak ur modem is to cool it down with fans, the biger the better but if u can mount or duck tape mount 1 on there and power it sumhow "warning eletrical hazzard"ive gone as far as taking all my equipment with circuits and placing it inside a custom wood backed case thats 2 feet by 4 feet and 1 foot deep, everythng is boxed in by pleziglas the mullberry "soft wood" finished wood is to mount everything then theres plexiglass casing , with 6 overall fans, 2 of which are 6'' "the cooler u can get ur hjarware the harder u can work it" i present all this information with little to no link backing it because this is all a breakthrough as is the internet2 soon u will hear about all this from many sources besides me i highly suggest any 1 who is still looking for that perfect seting to try this and let me know what u think
  15. i may have the solution to shift sum ul for dl or even just boost dl but first u need to know how to change ur rwin, are u fammilair with this or do u have a prog to do this, do u need 1?
  16. o and set ur mss to 1460"optimal seting -backed by http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/maintain/optimize/default.mspx
  17. ok i just joined this foroum to help build a portifilio for when i get my masters degree but anyway.. the fiorst thing im focousing on is rwin recently i have aquired proof that u should not set ur rwin based on multiples of mss however this information and the "new seting" i am here to test and prove were based for svr protocols. so i am basicly doing this to prove 1 question If it works for a svr wont it work 4 u 2 I might even write a book heres what i propose if ur analizer says it wants a new rwin give it this 1 to find ur ideal rwin... The formula for finding your "ideal" RWIN, is to take your latency (average ping time in ms x 1.5), multiply that by your advertised (download) speed, and divide that by 8. example of my settings 100ms x 1.5 -------150 150 x 6223 but well just say 6000 to prevent overload -------900000 900000 / 8 ----112500 <--------ahhahahhahahha do a speed test after rebooting and disabling all u can do this rwin forumla, restart and re do a speed test
  18. ya xp and dsl work well right of the bat but may i ask if u have ever changed any setings like mtu mss rwin etc..
  19. just 1 quick question, did u try tweaking ur sys, or make any changes in the tweak dept. b4 u used the above tweaks?
  20. ok great for my first action im going to go pay sum bills right quick then ill be bak, ill find sum 1 that needs help in the tweaks or comcast section and give my advice, as well as the advice of profassionals and see how it goes cheers
  21. nice, who are the moderators here?
  22. I am a 21 yea rolf supertweaker that is registered at so many foroums is mindboggeling when i discovered this site i was amazed for 2 reasons, 1 ur extreemly accurate and free continual speed test, and 2 ur lack of a supertweaker in ur foroums I belive i can help many ppl at not only tweaking but, beating around the bush and going straight to the hard facts, not the hype that so many belive when it comes to tweaks an example is how ppl continualy set there rwin setings based on multiples of mss i belive i can speed up everones net "in the world" if they try my suggestions"suggestions obtained from microsoft.com and network arcatechs them selvs"i work with these ppl" we diseign networks and network comps all in all i am doing this for a portfollio, on my behaf to submit when i achive a masters degree in network programing. and to help sum ppl ouyt along the way it seems like all the other foroums relating to this issue are ignorant in the ways of, they belive there setings and there guidlines are best, rofl thats whjat im here to prove these new ways call me a pioneer at the "new setings" for tweaking so tell me am i in the right place?
