wyantm06 Posted January 15, 2006 CID Share Posted January 15, 2006 Well I just installed XP Pro to my Laptop and it won't recognize my wireless connection like it did with XP Home. I have tried a lot of things but still can't get my network going. How can I get my Internet working on my laptop again? I am about to go back to Home since this is so confusing. FallowEarth Posted January 15, 2006 CID Share Posted January 15, 2006 It could be a hundred different things. What have you tried?
wyantm06 Posted January 15, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 15, 2006 I tried the network setup wizard, and it seems like my laptop won't detect my wireless modem.
FGOKURULES Posted January 15, 2006 CID Share Posted January 15, 2006 Have you set "Broadcast ssid" on your Wireless connection? This needs to be configured for Windows to detect your wireless network..And if not, you need to know the EXACT name of your network and Configure it Yourself and not through the Wizard!!! The wizard only works if there is an ssid broadcasting..
php Posted January 15, 2006 CID Share Posted January 15, 2006 did you install the drivers for your modem? and is it turned on?
Swimmer Posted January 15, 2006 CID Share Posted January 15, 2006 If your connection is WPA you need to make sure that either you have SP2 running or you download the patch that allows the wifi client to use WPA as the encryption scheme. Also make sure that you have the chip set and wifi drivers installed like php mentioned. The other thing that I would try is pinging the router/modem.. if you can see it then I am sure that you will be able to ping it. If none of this works. Try reseting the router back to is orginal config and start all over..
wyantm06 Posted January 15, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 15, 2006 I figured it out. My Laptop wouldn't install my wireless adaptor drivers, or wouldn't even read them. So I rebooted back to brandnew AGAIN and now it finally worked. Thanks for your guys help though.
