ch34p5hot Posted January 20, 2006 CID Share Posted January 20, 2006 you need to find out what connection you have. down and up then you need to download cablenut and apply the Van Buren settings. then restart your computer.

Guest helloimtim Posted January 20, 2006 CID Share Posted January 20, 2006 For what its worth here is a few ideas I have. First if you have dsl and running xp DO NOT mess with your settings. For whatever reason xp is tweaked sweet for dsl. I hope you have ran checks for spyware and or virus? That is a good idea. Last but not least use a bit of common sense as it were. I mean this with all due respect. Does your surfing seem pretty fast? Does your downloads seem pretty fast? If they do I would not mess with it. While tweaking does help with speeds it can also hurt speeds as well. I always suggest tweaking your settings as a last resort. Alot of times its something else. Just my 2 cents. Have a nice day
PolaSeeds Posted January 20, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 20, 2006 thank you for ur reply, i think my download speeds are way to slow and i have asked to be upgraded to 2mb but its going to take time a month they said....... as for tweaks i have try a few things and nothin works. I have heard a few people tweaking xp and getting faster speeds, what cablenut setting would i have to use??? i have been told im on a PPPoA what ever that means 1mb down and 256kbs up
Guest helloimtim Posted January 20, 2006 CID Share Posted January 20, 2006 I noticed you have tried a few things already? Maybey set your settings back to default xp settings see if that helps? Not sure the best program to do that with. Someone else may have a suggestion. If your speeds are that slow I would forsure reset your xp default settings. If your download speeds are that slow I would forsure check for virus and or spyware. Hope that helps have a nice day.
