trogers Posted February 1, 2006 CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 Did you install this patcher yet? http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=tools&PHPSESSID=3073cb03d1c950fd2de71f7529154fa2
Sharky2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 I do have both of these (fasterfox AND EventID patcher) but do you know of any others...? By the way, when I click on the link this link in firefox http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=tools&PHPSESSID=3073cb03d1c950fd2de71f7529154fa2 a blank page opens... but when I open the site in IE it opens up fine. I have noticed this problem with several links (including this one) where I can only open it in IE. Do I need to configure firefox so that it CAN open that link? trogers Posted February 1, 2006 CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 Did you install the NoScript extension? Could be your security setting on java and javascript. https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=722&application=firefox
Sharky2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 Do you know how i check the security setting on java and fix it? This has been happening with many links/sites that I type in the address bar also.
Sharky2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 I did not install that NoScript extension though....fyi. Also, when I click on Tools, Extensions, SwitchProxy Tool, and QuickProxy appear but I uninstalled them (including Google Web Accelerator). Do you know how I can get rid of them from that list?
trogers Posted February 1, 2006 CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 You can install the NoScript extension and choose "forbid", 'temporarily allow' or "permanently allow" any website you surf into, to display scripts. This will correct your problems. Oohh...I heard of much problem in getting rid of Google Web Accelerator. Last I heard, you have to do a search through your registry to rid any references to it. Using 'uninstall' is not enough.
Sharky2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 I am unable to install any extension now. If i uninstall firefox then reinstall it, will I lose my bookmarks?
trogers Posted February 1, 2006 CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 You do not need to uninstall FireFox. Just reinstall an exisitng version or new one, bookmarks will remain.
Sharky2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 I uninstalled anyway and also installed an existing version but nothing has changed (did not lose bookmarks). I am at a loss here...
TheHalf Posted February 1, 2006 CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 Have you tried Firetune for Firefox? I believe the latest version is 1.0.9.. http://www.totalidea.com/ft-up.htm TheHalf
trogers Posted February 1, 2006 CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 Yes. When using both FasterFox and FireTune at the same time, I find the best combination to set them is FasterFox - Optimized FireTune - Fast computer with Fast connection
Sharky2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 My advertised speeds are 1.5/368 but my connection overview found in http://192.168.1.1/index.htm which is WireSpeed Data Gateway is 1792 KBits/Sec by 448 KBits/Sec. The reason I am complaining is because I used to get faster speeds. I'll try firetune now.

Jodokast96 Posted February 2, 2006 CID Share Posted February 2, 2006 My advertised speeds are 1.5/368 but my connection overview found in http://192.168.1.1/index.htm which is WireSpeed Data Gateway is 1792 KBits/Sec by 448 KBits/Sec. The reason I am complaining is because I used to get faster speeds. I'll try firetune now. Your speeds will be overprovisioned to allow for the necessary overhead inherent with DSL. For example my modem stats read 3360/864 for the 3.0/768 plan. If they don't read over your speed plan, you've got problems somewhere. I've never used Firefox, so I'm guessing that Firetune is some sort of caching plug-in? If so, they can speed up browsing, but don't really speed up your connection. If that's how it works, that 1520 is not a true speed. As for Infospeed, I, and others, have found them to be very innacurate. I personally like the Speakeasy.net tests, but the one right here is just fine.
boywonder Posted February 3, 2006 CID Share Posted February 3, 2006 This tip is to make Firefox load alot faster using XP's prefetching Right click on the Firefox shortcut and in target add /prefetch:1 example: "C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe" /prefetch:

boywonder Posted February 3, 2006 CID Share Posted February 3, 2006 brock01, Thanks for the info about the preloader will look into it. The /prefetch:1 tip can be applied to other programs that load slow as well
SuPaFuNk Posted February 3, 2006 CID Share Posted February 3, 2006 To complain about getting higher than advertised speeds is barking up the wrong tree i think.
