wrc Posted February 27, 2006 CID Share Posted February 27, 2006 I've had to do this all again after a hard drive failure. Done the speed tests, ran cablenut, tcp optimizer results below. But in cablenut, my RWIN already IS 64240 connection still slow, whats going on? SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer TCP properties for IP = ........................ FallowEarth Posted February 27, 2006 CID Share Posted February 27, 2006 Your RWIN says 17520. What are your advertised speeds again?
wrc Posted February 27, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 27, 2006 I know, its weird, even when i clear the boxes and select "retrieve registry values" it still says 64240 Tiscali 1mb
VanBuren Posted February 27, 2006 CID Share Posted February 27, 2006 open cablenut, set DefaultReceiveWindow to 64240 DefaultSendWindow 17520 GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize 64240 TcpWindowSize 64240 now click save to registry and reboot your PC make a new speed test and TCP analyzer test VanBuren
wrc Posted February 27, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 27, 2006 Ok, that worked, although i had tried it earlier. speed tests still poor tho

trogers Posted February 28, 2006 CID Share Posted February 28, 2006 Hi wrc, I forgot what your advertised speed is. Please do a speedtest and post. Also check to ensure your signal cables and devices are plugged firmly and not placed near to other electrical devices - keep modem and router a few feet apart. wrc Posted February 28, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 28, 2006 normal download speeds are 50 to 65, when 120 was the norm before. I have checked all cables etc, but nothing has changed, other than a new drive i'm on tiscali 1mb :::.. P2P file sharing depends on a zillion factors. I have rarely noticed download speeds anywhere near my cap with torrents, etc. even when there are a lot of seeds. Usually it sits at about 5% of my cap, on average. Just because you don't see maximum speed in downloads of this nature, doesn't mean that there is anything wrong on your end. P2P networking is unreliable and always will be.
