resijs Posted March 6, 2006 CID Share Posted March 6, 2006 Finally I got it! First thing I notice is was slower than dialup, BUT that was because of Cablenut settings which I fixed with TCP Optimizer from www.speedguide.net. The settings I used were 20,000 speed, for all adapters, and optimized settings, restart, excellent. What I got was the 5MB/s down, 2MB/s up plan. Here are my scores. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 4250 Kbps about 4.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 519 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (main) Test Time:: 2006/03/06 - 3:33pm Bottom Line:: 76X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 1.97 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 85.26 % of your hosts average (verizon.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-68ISGP7OX :::.. The tech I spoke with also gave us a NICE speed checker... Yes even better than testmy, that will conserve full bandwith for specifically you giving you the real answer. http://miranda.ctd.anl.gov:7123/ It's really good, but you know. Testmy has the forums with all the helpful users and all that goodness.

tommie gorman Posted March 7, 2006 CID Share Posted March 7, 2006 resi3js this may sound like a stupid question but what exactly what is a reciever buffer? Is that the same as the"TCP Receive Window"?
Blunted 2 Posted March 7, 2006 CID Share Posted March 7, 2006 i think that they are different but not positive about that so lets wait for some1 else to post also
resijs Posted March 7, 2006 Author CID Share Posted March 7, 2006 Eh, could be. I say Miranda is more accurant because you aren't lagged down by other people testing at the same time as you. There's not much to say after that, it's a difference that makes sense and would seem like an obvious improvement.
