anox195 Posted March 18, 2006 CID Share Posted March 18, 2006 Yo vanburen or someone who knows alot about networking and cablenut, does cablenut limit the speed of LAN transfers, because to different computers were transfering and the max speed would not reach above 1034 kb/s. php Posted March 18, 2006 CID Share Posted March 18, 2006 It shouldn't, and doesn't in my case... I can push 94Mbps through my network what were you transferring, what were you using to transfer it, and how big is it? also, are you sure your NIC(s) are set to 100Mbps/Full duplex? anox195 Posted March 18, 2006 Author CID Share Posted March 18, 2006 Both nics were set to auto, the router was also set to auto. Im using a linksys befw11 something router... the file sizes averaged about 500mb.... i was transfering .mpg's
php Posted March 18, 2006 CID Share Posted March 18, 2006 How were you transferring them? through Windows file sharing?
brock01 Posted March 18, 2006 CID Share Posted March 18, 2006 what way do you use to transfer them php? and whats the max speed for a wireless computer to wired, or wireless to wired using wireless g
php Posted March 18, 2006 CID Share Posted March 18, 2006 I'll have to test the wireless to wired and vice versa... probably 40-50Mbps I transfer via FTP most of the time because I get the best speed with it, Windows file sharing gives me about 50-75% of the FTP speed. dlewis23 Posted March 18, 2006 CID Share Posted March 18, 2006 anox195 cablenut only directly affects tcp and udp traffic. AKA internet traffic, not local network traffic.
php Posted March 18, 2006 CID Share Posted March 18, 2006 Local network traffic is still TCP/UDP, but the latency is so low tweaks have minimal effect on speed. I'll run a couple tests a minute with various window sizes...
php Posted March 18, 2006 CID Share Posted March 18, 2006 8kB window 86.7Mbps 16kB window 91.3Mbps 32kB window 93.4Mbps 64kB window 93.8Mbps (Windows default) 128kB window 91.7Mbps 202kB window 88.6Mbps (largest window my test box is configured for...) So tweaking has a small effect, but not much
Blunted 2 Posted March 19, 2006 CID Share Posted March 19, 2006 Yo vanburen or someone who knows alot about networking and cablenut, does cablenut limit the speed of LAN transfers, because to different computers were transfering and the max speed would not reach above 1034 kB/s. yes it does cause i have tested it a while ago with van buren cause i was having problems getting full speeds on lan and saw that it changed with different settings. what are you getting on average on lan and what is your cablenut settings?
