jim2006 Posted December 30, 2004 CID Share Posted December 30, 2004 Now please don't kick me off this site for posting a link please. I am trying to setup a shoutcast server or a server you listen through winamp with!! And I am not sure if it is working right so I would just like someone to try it for me. It is running at the URL of http://mymusic.serveftp.com:8000 which there is not really a site located there just a winamp page basically. I think for people to listen to my music they need to click listen on the top of the page and download a playlist file then open that playlist file with a audio player please try it someone so I know if it is working!!! Again I am not trying to post spam I am just trying to configure this server and I have no way of knowing if it is working without someone try it thanks!!!!! Marcin541 Posted December 30, 2004 CID Share Posted December 30, 2004 Also if your upload is low then divide your upload by 128 and set that amount for the limit of users. So fur example, my upload is 768 and if i divide that by 128 I can have e7 users listening at 128kbps but I would set it 1 lower as the upstream is never 100% constantly. Marcin541 Posted January 1, 2005 CID Share Posted January 1, 2005 I had a shoutcast server hooked up but it takes up too much bandwidth. Back when i had 384 upload i had 3 listeners (almost all the time) with 112kbps stream. One guy listened for like 24 hours straight lol. RTB Posted January 1, 2005 CID Share Posted January 1, 2005 Constant upload/download really adds to a lot of bandwitdh. Chello thinks that more than 50 GB per month is abusing the service, but thanks to the upgrade it's now possible to get a usage of 51.5 GB per day (the full 24 hours). I hope they will set the limit higher, cuz I don't want to get kicked off for using so much bandwidth that Chello mails my dad and caps us at 48 Kbps down and up. Rarely, just so very rarely, high speed is bad for your health.

At least they UPPED your per month quota at a much higher and more realistic number, it does suck thats its not cumulative, but just like with cell minutes you buy them and if you don't use them they are lost.....that ain't right but...........consider the source.... Cobra Posted January 2, 2005 CID Share Posted January 2, 2005 Pay As You Go Plan now thats a cell phone plan- free incoming calls from other PAYG phones and u only pay for the minutes you use. say u dont use ur phone all that much- buy a $10 30 minute card. need more minutes after u finish with that? but another! still cheaper than most plans! too bad ive never heard of them... maybe thats just me. **shrugs**

As far as I know, the limit for the package my dad pays for has always been 50 GB. It's just a whole lot easier to reach after the upgrades.
