I remember back when, where it was ..but now that i need to find it, i cant..so give me the place where its located! lol... Another thing my connection has changed in the past couple months. But as i was lookin at other peoples speeds mine are pretty decent. 2004-01-29 13:44:21 EST: 3350 / 269 Your download speed : 3350878 bps, or 3350 Kbps. A 409 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 269541 bps, or 269 Kbps. Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier! My test i ran tonite--- :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 3170 Kbps about 3.2 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB) Download Speed is:: 387 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 57 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2.65 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=JBWTXBEVX Is there any way i can get back to those speeds that i had a couple months ago? I noticed that i got an upload higher than Comcast shows....My upload sucks compared to the other test. Im averaging around 239 compared to 269...Thanks in advance for your time! RTB Posted January 1, 2005 CID Share Posted January 1, 2005 My guess is that someone hopped onto your node, and the excess bandwidth is now shared between you two, or more than just two. I don't think you'll get higher speed again, other than scaring everyone else from the node you're on.
xs1 Posted January 1, 2005 CID Share Posted January 1, 2005 Yea mine is the same way. Depending on the route congestion, you may see speeds from 368 -> 425, like i was getting last night. thazts normal, no real "loss" of speed there. Hey Mikey and welcome to the forum Your speed is fine, above your cap downstream and close to cap upload, what tweaks are you using now? I think RTB is right, have you tested speed at times when less ppl using internet, if so did speed increase? you can try setting duplex manually, below you see a guide. quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml "HOW TO SET THE PROPER NIC DUPLEX SETTINGS: Win98/ME: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel. * Double-click Network. * From the scrollable list, select your Ethernet adapter (rather than any dial-up) with a green icon. * Click the button Properties. * Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front: * In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT. * In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or ( at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI. * Click OK to exit the Adapter settings. * Click OK all the way out - you might need to restart. Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel. * Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections. * Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection. * Right-click that icon and select Properties. * Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure.
